Re: Spring Rates/specs

Just FWIW and all that, typically “bouncing” is too much compression (or too much high speed compression). This is assuming the car isn’t getting on the bumpstops constantly. Have you tried measuring bump travel after trimming the bumpstops yet?

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

I never had issues with corrosion on Koni’s (several set, several cars) but we don’t have winter or salt down here. Lol. My guess is that you won’t have issues if the application is limited to summer use. As far as options, I’d check with Whitener... his stuff is gonna be the best for the price. Bu...

Yep, I’d use the spherical end links. If they make noise, it’s play and they’re due to be replaced.

To cut down on dry poly noise, wrap the bar with Teflon tape where it goes inside the bushings. It’ll make a huge difference.

Re: Tire Information Thread

I'm looking for a good all-around street tire. I live in AZ so I'm not too concerned with ice/water (iRa does not come out when it rains), but we have very hot summer temps. In the past I have used tires on the AP1 that get a little slick when the temps rise over 110*. Most of the posts in this thr...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Dan-tastic. Christian, who’s just gonna keep watching tire wear patterns, basic data, and butt-dyno balance adjustments. The only "wear" patterns I can discern during a track day is how wide of the patch I'm using. Butt-dyno wise, I can "tell" when the car has to...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Semi-related to all the talk about balance and stuff... here’s what my old Sedan looks like from behind. This was GL South, Road Atlanta, 195 Azenis. The car “felt” pretty neutral but could’ve used more rear bar IMO. My 97R drove about the same... sublime. :)

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Excellent points! I forgot to note alignment and tire pressures. I feel like dialing tire pressures is the most important yet overlooked item in our toolbag. Further, different tires (street/wets vs. dry/rcomps) compound this challenge. A pyrometer is next on my purchase list. I dunno about ...

Re: Tire Information Thread

I think the azenis would probably work for you. They are also being used as the solo spec tire for the FR-S/BRZ. A couple pages back there was some general impressions by Christian about the azenis which sound promising. But taking a quick look at Tire Rack, I agree 205/45/16 has a lot better selec...

Re: Suspension tuning - dampers, spring rates, etc.

Yup, I'm not set on anything to be honest. I know I definitely need more HPDEs to learn more on the car and driving skill. I do think there's too much body roll, think maybe upgraded dampers/shocks will help in the matter but didn't want to get something that I'd upgrade later on. Any recommendatio...
