ECU info?
This ECU came with my 98, when I switched to hondata my tuner buddy saw it and said it was actually something special you don’t see often. Don’t really remember that conversation since it was like 6 years ago. Fast forward to last year, NickMC saw it and said it was apparently something special based on the “A02”. Can anyone tell me anything else about it? I’d assume the 497 written on it might be related to someone’s badge number as mine was #980223. I also heard it may be a 97 ECU. Anybody have any info on it?

Re: ECU info?
Take the cover off and take a picture of the big chip. Obd2 ecu's are really hard to chip so only a few shops modified these ecu's.
497 is the bin/file of a stock itr from what I remember, I had a comptech itr race ecu and you could tell it was chipped and on the chip it had "ITR 497" written on the label.

What was the redline?
Let me dig into my notes. 97-01 ECU info are worth documenting again.

Re: ECU info?
From my research A02 is 97 USDM. Very rare!
Fun fact: Canadian ecu’s are different and start with a C instead of A. Eg C02 for A 97 CDM.

Re: ECU info?
That's a fun fact. I can't seem to find a thread ITR1334 & I made years ago, it appears it's time to build an ECU thread to document.touringteg wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 12:07 am From my research A02 is 97 USDM. Very rare!

Re: ECU info?
Brandon that looks like a rare stock 1997 usdm itr ecu, perfect for anyone wanting to do a restoration
Re: ECU info?
X2 on 97 itr also Brandon if I remember the discussion right it was a stock tune. Only difference was the readiness code that the emissions computer reads is locked in to all Zeros so it will always pass. I believe there are some differences between 97-98 fuel tank leak detection but I’m not positive. I think that would explain the generational nomenclature at the end.

Re: ECU info?
This actually makes a lot of sense because I would swap the ECU for inspection and it would always read ready even without driving the car further.Nick MC wrote:X2 on 97 itr also Brandon if I remember the discussion right it was a stock tune. Re: ECU info?
The 97 (p73-A02) was a swap fav since the gas tank pressure sensor on Integras didn’t get added until 98. IIRC it was one of the elements Honda caught some heat over on their 97 evap system And one of the reasons it was revised the following year.
It was the only US B18C5 specific ecu that would run on a car without the sensor.
I wasn’t aware that it would read pass on all the emissions test, I thought it read not present. Which was why the 97s have to get a sniff test not just read in CA? I might have to pick up an obd2b to obd2a adapter to see if I can read it the same.
