Out of storage and made it to the season opener for Dayton Cars and Coffee. It was the only ITR in attendance and drew up quite a bit of attention. I am guessing from all the internet hype from this past Fall and Winter. Several NSXs and the local Acura dealership was one of the sponsors of the event. The organizers reported 2000 cars. There were plates from all the surrounding States.

In preparation for my first track event: Brakes/ rotors, oil change and tire rotation. After talking with everyone here (thanks again), I went with the Hawk HT10 up front with Brembo rotors and Brembo rear pads (made by Akebono (sp) which is the premium on Rockauto, for the rear). Install went well for all and when I went to bed the pads in, I realized the clutch pedal was grabbing low to the floor. I found no leaks around the lines in the bay, but found spots on the carpet by the clutch pedal. Ordered a new clutch master cylinder/gasket and fluid.
Track day: I have to say, I was very nervous going into this. 2 hour 15 min drive to MidOhio-track-drive back. I did the lead/ follow group and ended up with 3 20 minute lap sessions. Each session was 5-6 laps (i lost count). The first session I was at the end of the line where I could barely see the lead car. The tail of the car was sliding out and I was not doing well following a Corvette who had as much experience as I. At the recommendation of the instructor (who tracks a prelude) I lowered the rear tire pressure to 35, keeping the front at 40.
Second session I was moved to another line with 2 other CTR's, s2000 and other smaller engine cars. Also was second behind the lead. This changed the experience totally. I was able to ride the line and learn/ understand the track.
Third session was absolute bliss. Rode the line without having to follow the movement of the car ahead and was going the fastest laps of the day.
In all it was was a great experience. The car ate 1 qt of oil by the time I packed up and headed home. Front wheels are covered in dust. I cant wait to do it again. The day gave me a greater appreciation of the car as a whole. This has probably been the roughest I have ever been on a car in my life, and it took it like a champ and got me home in one piece.
Next go around I think I will try Nelson Ledges. It is farther away but cheaper track and have a hotel special deal. Also helps that the events are on the weekend.

The front of the car is now on jack stands with some work underway. Ohio will no longer require a front license plate so the bumper was dropped off at paint to have the rectangle block shaved off and painted. The front lip will also be paint matched this time.
While it is up on the stands, the front brakes will be swapped out for a streetable pad and rotor. The Hawk HT10 function just fine on the road but the squeal is getting to me. I will keep the rotor and pads for when I take the car to the track. After swapping on the new rotors, the brake pad bracket (?) was touching the rotor at the bottom. I was able to shim the brack with a washer to avoid this and put it together. After sleeping on it, I think I will go back and take it apart and redo it. The internet had several claims as to why (bad wheel bearing, hub needs pushed in more, faulty new rotor). It works with the washers but I am thinking this will throw the balance off between the 2 front wheels...?
Also on the list will be the timing belt and valve adjustment.
Headlight adjustment has been quite trying. One light sits forward about .25". I think it is fixed but I will need the bumper back to get a better look.
Some painting of the ac lines and maybe the "T" behind the bumper since it will bee seen through the grill with no plate to cover it. Also, considering a repaint for the wheel wells since they have yellow patches in them from road wear.
Last thing was the install of a new steering wheel and hub. Mugen wheel with the Spoon Sports SRS hub. Both fit and function of the hub were great. I think I will have to invest in a spacer to bring the wheel a bit closer.

Inspected the rotor and hub last night, it turns out there was a nub leftover from a broken rotor set screw that was not allowing the rotor to sit flush.
Removed the bumper support with the plan to scrub it down and paint it black. I kinda feel bad painting over a CW part.
Since the license plate block will be gone, the things behind the grill will be better seen. I am certain that the ac and power steering line will be painted black but now I am thinking about painting the vertical portion of the "T" so that everything will be black behind the bumper....
And of course, to add to the mix, the passenger side lower mount looks to be shot (still oem part). The driver's side looks to have been replaced and has a sticker on it "made in Taiwan". Probably have to look into replacements for both. The engine has a slight forward motion when it revs, maybe this is the reason?
