98-0940 Anyone know anything about the caR?

IIRC 94-96? also had evap solenoid normally open
97+ changed to normally closed

The 98 is normally closed and opens when the ecu tells it to. The obd1 version acts as you describe. Idk what the 97 does. I don't have the manual, but I have read it isn't exactly a closed evap system like the 98.

Yeah I heard Honda was getting in some hot water for not fully complying with requirements for several years and had to keep making evap changes. I’m guessing that’s why it’s such a messy adhoc feeling system.
I see a few viable sellers of the manual on eBay. Weird that Helms doesn’t run them any more. I might try one of the “searchable” electronic copies of the 98 w/ relevant supplements. Would at least include the updates I need for the 01.

I have been looking for a 98 specific for a while. I am pretty sure the 2000 was the one most available. In addition to the main , there's a electric supplement and a type r supplement. Here's a 94 with the electric supplement.

I heard it was related to honda's transition from obd1 to obd2. I recall reading stuff about Honda being fined about it. I guess both B and D series motors have similar style systems? The 2000 Civic I have looks similar to my 2000 integra's evap stuff in the engine bay.aklackner wrote: ↑Wed Aug 21, 2019 11:45 pm Yeah I heard Honda was getting in some hot water for not fully complying with requirements for several years and had to keep making evap changes. Makes me wish I actually took a look at my 97 integra when I had it.

They are very similar. I think the 97 itr didn't have a ftp , this makes it in high demand for swaps . One reason why it's so expensive and high demand. I read a ht thread where guy got a evap code with a ecu he bought. He said it was under the car but had no wiring harness going to it, only some vacuums lines. Turns out on the 96 dx and lx which both use the same engines had different ecus because of different evap systems. Seems the dx lacked all the electronic stuff on the 2 way valve.

Re: 98-0940 Anyone know anything about the caR?
A while back I did another subseal on my driver door. I actually went out and bought extra subseal and a extra run channel since Acura is discontinuing everything on us .
Re: 98-0940 Anyone know anything about the caR?
I had a package arrive from Dubai with a discontinued vapor seal.
I figured since the door panel was off I could try to install the new vapor seal or rather I had to actually. It was really hot when I started the process on subseal and I had to pull part of the vapor because of previous owners after market speakers wiring. Well whatever adhesive was on there, oem or previous owners not sure but the adhesive started melting and was getting everywhere! It was 112 and humid. If I ever do the other door it's not going be in august. That stuff was so nasty. It was in doors inside, my lady was pissed it was on dish soap because I kept having to wash my hands over and over. Goo gone just seemed smear the stuff around. I was having alright luck using acne medicine pads but I would probably spend a fortune and 3 months of my weekends scrubbing it off. I ended up using nail polish remover and non scratch dish sponges to get it off .
That glue is so nasty. You can see it on door sill . The foot prints on the concrete are from it melting and dripping on the cement. Re: 98-0940 Anyone know anything about the caR?
Must have used 8 bottles of nail polish remover and 6 sponges. The glue would overcome the sponges and just begin to smear it around.
This little spot wore thin unfortunately. So I decided perfect place to test the Honda pen . Behind the door panel if it doesn't match. It's good for behind the door panel but I wouldn't use on the exterior.Re: 98-0940 Anyone know anything about the caR?
Spoonfed has a huge stockpile of discontinued highly sought after oem parts and got this for me .
I think acklander is right about the black one looking a little better. My civic got the black one, so no waste. Recycled Honda goods. LolWho is online
