98-1059 is here to stay

Nice updates! When you get things from the vintage warehouse that is the last of any remaining part, pretty cool.
Side note, I believe there should be a washer under the post mount nuts...

So I just order things and maybe I get them? The washers are missing. I think the rc logo mount has to go. The car is coming along great.

Correct. I tried to order the washers $4.24 each but those never came in so I skipped them. If and when they do, I’ll add them when I replace said fugly mount with an OEM part at the time of timing belt replacement. Probably winter. For now, I wanna drive this sucker.Stin1 wrote:So I just order things and maybe I get them? The washers are missing. I think the rc logo mount has to go. The car is coming along great.

Well, not exactly but...with the local parts manager there, he’s kinda not a car enthusiast. He’s been intrigued though by what I’ve been doing with the car. When something says backordered with no eta, he isn’t inclined to order it and then get stuck with it. Lately, he’s been making me pay for my orders in advance. I’m ok with that.Stin1 wrote:So I just order things and maybe I get them?

Re: 98-1059 is here to stay
Went to back the car out yesterday for a quick maintenance wash only to find ZERO power at the ignition switch, no door open key dinging upon getting it. Hmm. I started to think what it could be since the battery is brand spanking new and I’d just drive it the other day around the block.
Proceeded to check grounds, fuses and the like. For the hell of it I decided to pull the RDX next to it and see if it’d jump. Sure enough, immediately it had power and fired right up. I chalked it up as my son left the hazard lights on when he sits in there and touches and pulls on every switch and button possible. Began my wash and let it run for about 15 minutes. So I went out today and checked it and it’s dead again. Either something really weird happened in the last week or the battery just needs a good drive charge. I’ll be trying to get up extra early and driver her to work tomorrow, that oughta do it...

The goal is to have just about every piece you can see or touch new before bringing heR in for paint.

That's weird about the battery. Let us know if you figure it out.

The only thing I found odd is I’ve gone since to put my automatic trickle charger on the battery and it “errors out” and won’t charge. It does have a safety for reverse polarity. I wonder if something more is going on or I’m just feeding into the conspiracy. Either way, I’ll try and get some miles on it tomorrow.Dave7CDMTYPER wrote:That's weird about the battery. I had that issue recently, where my charger wasn't charging the battery. But in my case it was b/c the battery was old.

Re: 98-1059 is here to stay
Sounds like a bad cell. My battery tender errors when the battery is dead. Honda batteries are manufactured by interstate. I get two years and two weeks on my daily cars out here. The prorated cost starts at two weeks. Planned adolescence! I get 3 years on the Honda branded interstate batteries. The ten year warranty is kind of good for 6-7 years because the prorated cost reduces by years. So if you plan on keeping the car at ten years your warranty won't replace it when it konks out after. I have had bad cells in both the Honda and interstate versions. There was a bad batch of lead at some point and the cells were cracking. I believe I got one there was this huge grinding by the battery/ firewall. I never heard such a sound. Two days later the battery died. I replaced it never heard the sound again. I can't exactly brag about Honda/ Acura batteries. Honda is also a pain to deal with. They use the interstate tester. If it passes they won't replace it. Mine always failed, but I have read people being denied and a new battery resolved the issue.
