Emissions logo sticker on bottom of hood? PN available?
Emissions logo sticker on bottom of hood? PN available?
Hey guys, I'm new here (lost my old login from the zeroforum days), not new to the ITR or community however! Used to own 98-0408, and I just picked up another 98R this past weekend (theft recovery). Working on figuring out the badge number, and I'll start a restoration thread on it soon.
I have been collecting (hoarding?) OEM USDM ITR parts for a long time, and have most of what I need to restore one in storage. There was one PN I just haven't been able to pin down from the parts catalogs, and I was wondering if anyone knows if this is possible to have ordered.
I'm looking for the logo that shows the emissions information from the bottom of the hood. It is pictured in the attachment.
Any leads would be appreciated!

Re: Emissions logo sticker on bottom of hood? PN available?
My ITR hood was crumpled up and had to be replaced, in 2008.
On our old site there was a member that made a Vehicle Emission Control Information sticker for my new hood.
I don't have access to my old Private Messages, so I can not tell you his name. He worked at a printing company. On the back of my label there is www dot oracal dot com and the words ORAJET Digital Printing Media.
I had to tell him which version of Emission sticker I needed. Mine is "18VHGBBE" for my 2001 PY.
Sorry that PhotoBucket has blurred all of my photos, or I'd post a picture.
BTW...are you using photobucket? Who do you recommend, if not?
Good luck getting a Catalyst sticker.

2+ years ago when I got my R, since it has JDM front I needed to find this emissions sticker for CARB. I forget the emissions sticker PN, I'll see if I can find it. But at that time they had just discontinued this item, but not sure on status now, as these things can change.

That is the exact reason I need it (JDM front, not CARB). I'm converting back to a USDM front and the odds of finding an original CW 98 hood are very low. I intend to find the cleanest hood I can, and have it stripped of paint, repainted CW, and I want to have the original sticker as well. I already have the SRS sticker in hand.Dave7CDMTYPER wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 9:43 pm 2+ years ago when I got my R, since it has JDM front I needed to find this emissions sticker for CARB. I just researched Orajet and its clear they are just a manufacturer of the label materials. Good info.carpayments4life wrote: ↑Mon Oct 14, 2019 8:32 pm My ITR hood was crumpled up and had to be replaced, in 2008.

The real nugget was your mention of 18VHGBBE. In googling that I was able to find a PDF of the original sticker. The PDF was from 1998, so I assume the 18VHGBBE is applicable for that year as well. I have attached it below (quality is insufficient for printing but its a start).
UPDATE: After digging around on some other models I was able to find out that all Honda emissions control labels start with 17277. I had a hunch that if I added "P73" in there it would be a hit, and low and behold 17277-P73-A04 is the ticket.
Now the bummer, it appears to be discontinued. I am looking into the 17277-P73-C04 and other variants now. Probably not going to be able to find one but might get lucky!

Yep, just make sure the label says the same year as your caR.

Maybe we can get a collection of hi-res photos to cover the relevant years?
Typically a good quality image is all you need to have a sticker remade (a number of ebay vendors can do this with pretty good quality)

If I recall correctly the guy that made the decal was served a cease and desist. Copywrite infringement is serious business .

Yes, keep in mind it's not really legal to print one of these labels independently. Although what Honda expects people to do when they're discontinued is beyond me.

I'll say posting images of the label for documentation and community interest would be appreciated. All these subtle details help validate original vehicles and restoration projects hunting spares/sources for these parts or original parts containing them.
I find it interesting that there appears to have been (4) versions of the sticker, from 17277-P73-A01 to 17277-P73-A04. I would have guessed this would correspond to the ECU\emissions generation. Oddly the rough jpg shared above shows p73-A01 but part number shared was A04 if for the '98 I'd have expected A03 to match ECU and A04 for 00-01s. If "replicas" were being mixed and matched that would have led to issues additional issues outside of other reproduction issues.
In general I don't recall this sticker being mandatory for emissions testing in CA.
From what I've experienced testing\inspection mostly relies on the computer system after the vin has been input. There's too much opportunity for swapped hoods or replicas to rely on a sticker like this. If it's cops popping your hood (you're probably already getting some form of ticket anyway) and if they feel like it they'll just send you off for (ref) inspection, regardless of presence of emissions stickers, so missing it not really a requirement there either, just a potential hassle.
