PeteTheCarFreak's Fake JDM ITR Build Thread

Post by PeteTheCarFreak » Mon Nov 11, 2019 3:14 am

Hey Type R Club! I'm new to the forum but some of you may have already met me at Type R Expo West in 2018 with my 6MT 2007 Acura TL Type-S.

I have since then sold my TL-S and got myself back into the seat of a Integra. This is my 4th Integra, my intentions with it are to complete the replica that someone had started with this and enjoy it. The car was originally a 1994 Acura Integra GS-R and in 2011 it was revamped to be a replica of a '98 spec JDM DC2R in Nighthawk Black by "Wrench Pro" in Southern California. The front clip (front end, swap, RHD) came off a 1998 JDM ITR from Honda Motors Online (HMO).

It was then sold to someone else in California for a bit, then my buddy Ernesto bought the car. He had put leather seats in it, had a full color change done to Championship White and put some 17" wheels on it. Not sure what else he did but the car definitely needs some work.. luckily I know these cars pretty well and I work at a Honda dealership so I can get work done there.

I purchased the car on November 6th, 2019.

He worked at a tire shop so I had my Type R wheels thrown on before I took the car home.

Later that day I took the car into my work for my buddy in the shop to check out, the next day we did an oil change on it and changed the transmission fluid. He also topped off some other fluids for me.

Image

Other than finding some things leaking, we also discovered why the exhaust was rattling so much..

I haven't had the car detailed yet but I did clean up the exterior and engine bay a bit.

Thanks for reading! I haven't had a build thread in quite a while so I hope my pictures uploaded fine.

Welcome, nice looking Integra! Can't wait to see what you do with it.
Pictures work, but you have to click the link to view. Just put the link between the image code and they will load fine.

Welcome! Let’s see some interior pictures. Do you have any pictures of the TL? Trying to remember what it looked liked at expo west.

A little update.. ending with a big headache.

So far I've had a good time doing a couple things to the car while waiting to have an inspection and more work done to it. I installed a Skunk2 weighted shift knob and I replaced the heavy, high-sitting RSX seats with Del Sol seats on Integra rails. What a difference it made!

Afterwards my buddy Marcos and I did a photoshoot!

I had some stock USDM ITR struts and rear LCAs sitting around so I had my tech at Honda install them. I was sick of the car being slammed.

The car sits way too high, I have no idea why. The passenger side (RHD) sits higher than the driver's too. The suspension was shipped from California and came off a stock ITR with 70Kish miles. They sat in a box for a year or two, and they seem to ride like stock suspension. I just can't figure out what's going on. The car has no rear sway bar, aftermarket rear camber kit and aftermarket front upper control arms. I really don't want to wait a week until the inspection comes!

I've always noticed on stock suspension the passenger side always sat higher on LHD cars. I would have thought it would have been more even on a rhd car when you sat down as a driver. I dont recall my car sitting that high when I ran itr springs and shocks and when i switched to bilstein sports either.

Yeah I just found out the previous ITR that had this suspension on sat the same way. He said he bought it from HMO.

Have you tried switching the springs out L-R? They're not side specific. And hello I recognize you from instagram.

Hey bud! I have not tried that, I suppose that could be a factor.
