Re: Insurance Question
Agreed. Thats the reason for posting in the first place, Although I presently have a low insurance rate because it is insured as a CX if anything happens I am $@&(:ed! They will only pay for a CX in excellent shape. Due to the rarity of the car I can not find for the life of me any sales figures for this car in the United States let alone Canada. Based on Japanese Auction figures I would hope to insure it for 45k CAN. I am just concerned about backing up my evaluation because I have no sales data based on North American sales

Re: Insurance Question
Gotcha. I misread that. Let us know how it goes with Amica, or whoever you choose.coolhandluke wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 12:42 pmGrundy is who denied my application, stating the DC2 Type R was not a "collector." Hagerty was twice the cost and required more hoops. I'm leaning towards Amica at this point but life has distracted me.Dave7CDMTYPER wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 12:24 pm That's interesting Hagerty won't insure your ITR. Want me to ask my agent there about getting you on board?

Re: Insurance Question
I have always got a appraisal for all my modified cars. It will save you in the long run if you ever have a accident. Both my JDM Subaru and my SI have been hit, if I didn't have the appraisals insurance would of gave me next to nothing for them. I am currently with Hagerty, my 1992 SI has a k series turbo and it is fully insured with high appraisal value. Monthly cost is very reasonable and I don't have to worry.

Re: Insurance Question
Hello Everybody,
Well it took awhile but I was able to insure the ITR and CTR, but it took a bit of effort. Because I have heard some good things about Hagerty I contacted them to put value/market based insurance on the 97R and 00CTR. Before this I had the 97R insured for $15K CAD and the 00CTR for $7500 CAD. While it wasn't too hard for them to agree to my valuation of the 97R, when it came to the 00CTR Race Base it took a lot more effort. For the Race Base I had to first convince them there was a CTR that was produced in the JDM in the 90s (EK9) and that there was a variant of it referred to as the Race Base. While the first person was okay with my explanation, there was another person after this that left me a message saying that they don't insure standard civics! During the process, I was waiting for them to ask for the cars to be appraised. Turns out that all they wanted were pictures, and they only required three of them for each vehicle. While this was good, I was annoyed at the lack of communication between the agents. Whenever I called it seemed as if nobody thought about reviewing the files! Anyway, as I said, they are insured. In addition, I was able to insure another car I am having restored for the full value of everything I have spent so far. The total cost for insuring all the cars is $1740 Cad (or a lot less American).

Re: Insurance Question
Thank you for bringing this topic back up. I have been considering restarting the process for both an insurance carrier and specialty insurance. AAA has not offered any discounts, despite my cars being parked the past seven weeks.

Re: Insurance Question
I think Hagerty has usually insured higher end cars, so they are slowly learning about these Japanese modern classics.

I chimed in about my Hagerty and Grundy attempts earlier. I'm leaning towards Amica.Dave7CDMTYPER wrote: ↑Fri Apr 24, 2020 6:13 pm I think Hagerty has usually insured higher end cars, so they are slowly learning about these Japanese modern classics.
