RHDJapan

Post by 00DC2R » Thu Apr 02, 2020 10:41 am

Hello all. Long time lurker and finally created an account because I don't have anyone to ask. Has anyone purchased from RHDJapan.com or can vouch for them? Having responsibilities means car funds are always tight and their prices, even with shipping, are better than ICB, King and the other stateside vendors. That being said, I'm wary of shopping through international vendors for security reasons and customer service if there is an issue. Aside from that, I've always admired the community on this site and the long-gone NWP site. I'm a bit reclusive and don't do social media but was wondering if there were any R owners in SoAZ. It's been quite some time since I've seen one on the road here. Thanks in advance any input and stay safe.

I've purchased several items from rhdjapan, shipping to the US is fast and priced reasonable too. Off the top of my head, some of the stuff I've purchased:
-Spoon Dc2 motor mounts
-Spoon blue mirror inserts and rear view mirror
-Toda Cam gears

No issues and went without a hitch, not sure how service is if something does go wrong, but I got my parts with no mixups.

Also I've purchased Spoon Calipers from Bo Gaut on facebook, no issues other than a slightly delay out of his control, but he responded when I asked for updates on the status. It's assuring to know that I paid for them, waited a few months and still got the item.

Is this the site?
https://www.rhdjapan.com/

I'm unfamiliar with RHDJapan, I will check them out now.

*Edit* - I see this site is local to Japan, meaning shipping and exchange rates are in play. While the costs might be cheaper, depending on exchange rates, this adds risk for me, as there could be delays or mishaps in shipping. This could result in damage or losses. I prefer to pay slightly more for reduced shipping and assured quality.

I would also advocate for King Motorsports, who has supported this community for 12+ years by sponsoring Type R Expo. I'm a fan of supporting those who support my local community. I'm also a fan of scoring a gift certificate worth 100's of dollars. 8-)

RHDJapan is by far my favorite JDM parts website. I highly recommend them. It's a site that I don't tell many people about...because I'd like to keep it a special secret.

In my experience, besides excellent shipping and tracking info, and speedy shipping, they have great customer service. Whenever there is an issue or question, they create a ticket/message in your account, and you can communicate with a customer service rep.

One experience I had (keep in mind that rhdjapan is where you can get the true baller Jdm parts): I was looking to get a toda clutch kit, with flywheel. At first rhdjapan was going to sell them individually. But I had heard somewhere that if bought from Toda as a kit, that Toda balances the parts together. So I asked the rhdjapan rep, and he spent a few days contacting Toda. And in fact they found that Toda does balance the kit together, and they were able to get me one.

So having a reliable customer service rep from a legit company contacting high end JDM parts suppliers with questions and inquiries is super valuable to me. Especially since I live in the US and don't speak Japanese.

Just please, don't tell anyone about rhdjapan. ;) :trophy:

Great info AW614 and Dave7! I'm all for supporting U.S. businesses and have purchased quite a bit from ICB & King over the years but I also believe in competitive pricing. In your experiences, were there additional currency conversion fees or was the USD price on the website accurate? Thanks again for your input.

I ordered Spoon plug wires from there. It was marked down to like $214 at the time but after shipping and whatever fees they tacked on after my order, it came out to around $250. i think it took 2-2.5 weeks to arrive.

The price on the site is pretty accurate. I would find out the exact conversion when I set up the PayPal payment. PayPal would show the conversion.

Disclosure Update: FWIW I'd like to share my experience so far. I finally decided to give it a shot and ordered the Mugen bushings I've been looking at. I hesitated a bit because after entering their "Golden Week" coupon code worth 6%, the estimated total with shipping was $571.xx and when I entered my payment info, I selected VISA instead of Wire Transfer which reduced the discount and added a $16.79 "payment fee" which I thought was B.S. The new total, shipped, with all of the fees including the estimated conversion fee from my financial institution is $604.xx. I checked King Motorsport and their price for the same bushings is $756.00 not including shipping or tax (thanks South Dakota vs. Wayfair). It's still a substantial savings and I'm in no hurry. I'll give another update when I receive the items and we'll see if they're worth ordering from again.
