Re: Type R Expo 2020 Survey
Thanks for checking on this. I'm glad people are interested.
In short, Expo 2020 is back to TBD.
Want more details?
We had discussed things with a few different sponsors and tracks. We pursued all of them and also took into account the survey responses (thank you to all who helped so far!). They included tracks we have visited previously as well as new ones. We even had a few dates penciled in for 2020, and I was looking at our 2021 plans at the same time.
One of penciled dates was for a mid-June weekend, and I have since pushed that out to mid-Sept. I was not comfortable announcing it in January for a few reasons, and one is the current pandemic we are in. Anyone who follows international news, or event Formula 1 news, knew things were looking...ominous. When F1 drivers were told to drive to Barcelona instead of fly for testing, that was another indicator that things were about to get worse.
And here we are....
Please stay safe everyone. This thing is no joke.

I think that I can speak for the while group and say we all support your decision 100%. This thing is bad, only gonna get worse before it gets any better. Hopefully before too long things will get back to normal and we can all sit back and get back to a normal life again. Me personally, I enjoy the time away. I've been social distancing for most of my life, out on the water fishing and out in the woods hunting instead of sitting at home watching the tv. I believe the press and social media are partially to blame for the shortage of tp, the closing down of sit down restaurants and forcing take out service only, the limiting of gatherings of more than 3(wtf-I have more than that in my household). Its gonna cause a lot of mom and pops style places to go out of business. I've personally been out supporting these places, to hell with a chain restaurant. I've got my freezer stocked with deer meat and fish and chicken, my shelves and pantry always have supplies in them. The car is chillin in the garage under its cover anxiously awaiting its next adventure. I believe I hear the mountains calling my name.....I feel a tail of the dragon trip will be in my future. Stay safe out there guys and girls.

Re: Type R Expo 2020 Survey
Yeah, I think those scenic drives can be a great stress relief right now. It's not the same as driving on track but can be therapeutic.
I've pondered the idea of having a large group video conference call for anyone interested. We can discuss Expo plans, suggestions, etc. If there's an interest, I can host it via a variety of platforms. I think it could be a fun way to keep everyone involved during this pandemic.

I would be down for a civil war battlefield tour or something where we drive point to point and hit key areas of a battle.
I have done a few ITR threads with "battlefield tours" by myself here over the last 10-12 yrs.

We should definitely coordinate. Possibly around Watkins Glen come September.Little_Nolan wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:28 am I would be down for a civil war battlefield tour or something where we drive point to point and hit key areas of a battle.

I am down to work this out - The closest large scale CW battlefield would Gettysburg or Antietam. But they are both literally hours away... If there was an event at VIR we could double up on the possibilities are endless.coolhandluke wrote: ↑Thu Apr 16, 2020 11:29 amWe should definitely coordinate. There are some Revolutionary war and French/Indian war sites that we could possibly use in reasonable proximity to the Glen.
I will text you to discuss further.
