Short Ratio Steering Rack Possible?

Post by PeteTheCarFreak » Tue Jul 07, 2020 9:45 am

I know this topic has been covered on other forums but doesn't seem that there are a whole lot of solid results.
Anyone know of a short ratio steering rack available for our cars? Or how to make our factory one a shorter ratio?

This was the best thing I could find on h-t

Aren't you RHD? I wonder if you have options.

I've come around on the slow rack of our cars compared to modern cars, it perfectly fine for the track, but more noticeable for me with tight autocrosses, but otherwise liveable.

I was only aware of the Quaife in LHD. Checking their site, I only see older Civic and CRX references, but they might still be able to product LHD & RHD kits for DC2's:

If Quaife is confirmed, I'd be super interested in getting this for my gs-r.

There is also someone in the greater Honda community who are now rebuilding steering racks for race applications. I'm unsure if this includes shorter ratios, but I will ask.

Yeah I am RHD, I emailed Quaife to see if they could help.

I also emailed them. I'll report back when I hear from them. I would love a high quality short ratio steering rack. I honestly didn't think these existed.

I think all the Quaife racks are for manual steering racks only. I remember seeing a thread forever ago about endyne modifying one for power steering. I would like to see a Quaife and a powered rack side by side.

That would be nice if they had it available for power steering, I feel that if they carried that product they could have good success from it. I'd rather have power steering than a quicker rack
