Short Ratio Steering Rack Possible?

I know hardly anything about steering columns. So this is cool to learn about. I may try to get a spare steering column and see if a fab shop can do the work. Don't want to mess up my original gs-r column, want to make sure I at least have a working unit in case this doesn't work out.

I see some good prices for Jdm dc2 steering columns on Ebay. Would I be able to use one of those for LHD? Not the switches etc, just the column. Otherwise, it seems a bit harder to find a USDM unit. USDM units are discontinued.

Interestingly, looks like 2001 spec ITR and GS-R had the same steering columns:

I have a spare out of my old '95 SE, looks like the steering column changed in '98 and '00. Not sure what the difference is.

That could be cool if one of us were able to use a spare and see what the difference is using that steering quickener.

No, RHD and LHD are different to match the firewall/chassis and driver's position. I like your approach though, I would explore junkyards or RockAuto/etc.
