Shift lever refresh
Shift lever refresh
I am in the process of replacing some of the shift lever bushings and o rings.. I got a kit from acura (0652-SH3-010) that they are saying is correct for the type r. At the end of the lever there is a tube and the collar (with o-rings on it) fits in side. Then the bolt goes threw it and bolts onto the long linkage/rod.
Issue I am having is that the bolt and sleave/collar (item 12 in the manual) is about 10 mm shorter then the old one. The new one is not going to work. If the bolt is tightened up it will squeeze the shift lever tube instead of the collar.
Has anyone run into this before? It looks like the bolt is 8x60 in the manual but the one in the kit is 8x50.
I have had the car since 2004 and dont believe the shift was change before that so I'm 99% sure it is stock.
Thanks for any info/insights

Re: Shift lever refresh
The part number you entered is not correct. Is the only problem the bolt is to short? If so then you could easily find the correct length bolt from Honda i would think if you have to have new. Otherwise why not just reuse the old bolt.
Re: Shift lever refresh
The bolt is not a big deal, it is the sleeve with the o rings that the bolt goes threw that is the issue. It does extend out to the edges of the shifter sleeve.
Re: Shift lever refresh
Ok now I'm following.. is your old distance collar not reusable?
Re: Shift lever refresh
You can also order the distance collar itself and see if the one in the kit is different than the single. Here's the distance collar part number 54117-SD4-000 it's like 12 bucks
Re: Shift lever refresh
First time it has been taken apart in 390km so it is pretty badly rusted.
Thanks for the info, I'll give that a try. Worst comes to worst I can clean it up. Just hoping to start new again.
Thanks again,

just to wrap this up. the piece that came as part of the kit was wrong. they replaced it with the right one and no issues. nice tight shifting again

Re: Shift lever refresh
Btw, mugen makes bushings for shift linkage (right under shifter, and the one that connects on the trans.). But sounds like you got new bushings in your kit?
