Fenders not in helms?

Post by aklackner » Tue Dec 01, 2020 8:44 am

I’m guessing it’s tucked in there some where but I’m coming up empty when I’m looking for fender removal/install. I’d expect it to be be in body but no only the fender liners are listed (rubber trim that goes on the inner edge of the rear fenders)?

The source of this inquiry is that I missed the fender support brackets that go at the front of the fenders where the bumper meets the fender out from the body. It likely I’ll need to pull the bumper to get them in but I was hoping to confirm and make sure I have the sequence correct.

This is likely in the dedicated body manual, long since discontinued sadly.

To remove the fender (JDM or USDM) from memory:
-Pop hood
-Remove front bumper: Undertray, top bracket, etc.
Why: This exposes front of fender attachment 10m bolts
-Remove side skirts: Front & rear tire wall screws, underside clips
Why: This exposes the bottom attachment 2x 10m bolts
-Remove engine bay 10m bolts (~4-5x)
-Lift up + forward

I recommend marking front & bottom attachment with sharpie to note alignment prior to removing bolts. Misalignment can lead to the door & fender colliding.

Thanks it was just so weird not to see with all the other panels and even body specs listed. Seems so random.
Maybe Bishko will sell the body manual since they have the general available in electronic form now?

One would hope. I had to replace my core support a few years ago after a track incident. Fortunately, RBoosted717 saved the day, and provided me scans with measurements to provide to the fabricator.
