Free ITR Rear LCA Spacer Thingy

Prolly TMI but I am kind of rebooting Kingpin after a disaster of a year. Going to try to optimize my processes as much as I can and make a decision in 2021 whether to keep beating my head against the brick wall or try and go back to a normal job. Meanwhile, I am cleaning house. These little guys predate Kingpin and are just spacers to keep the rear LCA from pinching in when you torque the rear sway bar links to spec. Please don't judge the quality as they are rough compared to my stuff now. But they work well. Would rather just ship them to say Ryan Conley or whoever in a padded envelope and let him distribute to anyone that needs them. But they are taking up a bin, have been there for a decade and need to go away. They are a stupid simple part and barely worth shipping so I will recycle if no one needs them. I just hate wasting stuff.

Do you think these would these work sufficiently to support the lca to press replacement bushing in the lca too, I’m guessing it would need to be closer by the bushings but I’d love a quality jig to support, especially as parts get more difficult to source.

Since you mentioned a reboot, would it be a good time to get an order in for the famed kingpin front compliance bearing setup?

It will be a sore loss for the community if you get to a place where it’s time to move on.

Let me grab some smaller padded envelopes and I will ship a couple sets to you guys. I don't mind supporting the community with little stuff like this and with covid isolation not like I have much going on in the evenings anymore. LOL.

No, they wouldn't be helpful for supporting the rear LCA when pressing in replacement bushings. You would need a jig like the one I developed for the Hyundai Veloster rear LCAs. Have been doing sphericals for the TCA cars built by Bryan Herta Autosport. That is something I could do at some point and we have a community member that at least was doing the share/rent a tool thing so that might be an option. Just finding time and remembering to do it is always the issue.

Here is the Veloster jig. Just turned on the lathe and then cut in half. Hose clamp holds two halves together. The trick is you tighten the hose clamp until snug and then back off a little bit so the clamp does not put tension on the bushing. You want the bushing to slide freely during pressing and jig just keeps the arm from collapsing. Safety glasses and a strong heart are required when the bushing finally comes free. The entire assembly loads up and then you get potentially huge spring back which sends the arm, bushing and pressing arbor in multiple directions. Stamped steel arms are a blast to work with.

I am not going anywhere anytime soon as I don't have a lot of viable options. I really want to make the business work and just need to try to optimize processes and develop parts that are more profitable. ie. Not for Hondas! Hehe.

I'm definitely interested.

Longterm, we as a community need to figure out a Rear LCA strategy now that OEM Rear LCA's are no longer available. The community will need to replace/upgrade existing LCA's or migrate to a third party solution. I would like to incorporate Kingpin bits where possible.

Let me know what dev costs are for the jig maybe we can make it worth your time when you have some.

Honda owners are traditionally cheap (sadly.) I do value the top shelf quality Kingpin delivers and I also appreciate your company being born out of the community and your company giving back to this community. I'm happy to support.
