Brakes 101 (and 102)
Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
Rebuild is pretty easy. Can be tough getting the piston boot installed correctly if you've never done it before. Would also want to check slide pins and pistons for pitting and smooth operation.
The calipers I posted should be ready to go if you want to just clean them up and rock n roll. They don't have a lot of miles on them (mostly track) so the boots and seals should still be good but I would double check them. My OEM calipers were a mess so I put these on and they were fine. I only swapped them out last year to go with a NSX/Legend setup. But then I ended up getting my OEM calipers refinished and cleaned up so now I am back in those. (Anybody want some NSX calipers lol)
If you are still interested let me know and I'll get a shipping quote.

Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
I would post a link to the parts catalog to assist with reviewing or call IRUNOEM/another dealer to confirm.

Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
Can confirm that is the rebuild kit. I have two of them sitting with me as I did an emergency rebuild using autozone seals and never got the chance to swap over the OEM parts on since I went with Spoons.
On the subject of rebuilds, has anyone done the rears before? Is it as bad as I've seen in other forum posts from H-T?

Thank you for confirming.
TurboLS comes to mind. I will ping him offline.

Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
Careful with year swaps here, the small arm which holds the parking cable is different between 97 & 98+ IIRC and can be hard to source, virtually none of the reman calipers include the parking brake cable bracket.coolhandluke wrote:Thank you for confirming.

Mounting brackets are also generally something to be vary wary of with non-oem Reman calipers I’ve seen a lot of incorrect caliper brackets included, as the brackets visually look correct but the spacing will be off from center on the rotor. Which can affect the ability of the caliper to center properly as the pads wear to the limits.

Thank you for chiming in with input, those are two key items to ID.
Is this the small (parking cable) arm you are referring to?

Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
Yes that’s the bracket “Arm” that the sleeve of the parking brake cables slide into to fix it in place as the brake handle is pulled which allows the inner cable to move within the sleeve and activate the parking brake mechanism within the caliper.
Re: Brakes 101 (and 102)
About the parking brake bracket, what is the main difference between the 97 and 98+ cars?
I bought a set of used rear ITR brakes on NWP4LIFE, not sure what year they came off of, the parking brake bracket wasn't included and and regular LS/GSR bracket had smaller bolt holes. I need to take pictures of it, but one of the calipers had the proper threads for the bolt and one of the holes wasn't threaded. Unsure if that is normal or if someone had drilled out the threads on my caliper. I ended up using the stock LS/GSR parking brake bracket with a bolt and nut to hold them in. So far no issues. But one thing I did notice was if you buy the LS/GSR bracket that is still available, a machine shop might be able to bore the holes out to work on the ITR caliper correctly and it could be a work around solution.
Then the RSX Type S rear Caliper that bleeds upside down when you reverse the side on Integras, the LS/GSR bracket is a direct fit. My rear RSX Type S calipers were causing irregular wear which is why I was considering rebuilding them as a way to learn how.

Brakes 101 (and 102)
IIRC the 97 had 2 bolts holding the arm, the 98+ had a sort of pin in one position and a bolt on the other. Shapes on the caliper mating side may have been slightly different too.
I don’t think I have pictures of the bracket but here’s the mating surface on the OEM 98+ caliper. You can see one side for the pin the other threaded for a bolt.
Was out checking torque so here’s the 98+ arm. You can sort of see the inset where the locating pin is that goes into the non-threaded hole in the calipers.
