Wtb: OEM 97 ITR mask

Post by aklackner » Tue Jan 19, 2021 7:45 am

Any one have one of these 97 masks squirreled away? If it needs to be said I’m a serious buyer.

I’m open to (a source for) high quality replica here too.

Thanks,

Alan

I think your chances are better finding a non-ITR front mask vs ITR  ... but GLWSearch

Yeah this is pretty hopeless but I’m looking for track protection for my OEM 97 front lip since I chose to run the 97 facia for my own aesthetic and in a conscious nod to origins. Similarly fitted with Honda (vs Acura) badging.

I don’t think the mask from a Non-R would fit the lip but if I’m wrong please share.

If I were you I would consider a track specific lip. I actually would probably remove the 97 lip for regular driving. In my hatchback I had a brand new oem bumper and oem lip destroyed by a tricycle on the highway. I had the choice of the ditch , the car next me, or the tricycle. I got as far as I could over to the ditch. Tricycle busted the bumper tab and cracked the lip . The resonator behind the bumper also exploded. That part was ..... wait for it......discontinued.

I’d honestly sell the car first, if I get to point where I can’t drive it.

I built it to drive not to show or collect value. @near 200k mi on the odo (though everything else has <5k on it) residual value isn’t really a concern.

I do want to keep it in the best condition reasonable possible, I’m just not going to be changing the bumper anytime I want to go for a drive. I don’t need to eliminate the risk just try to manage it.

I totally understand your point. I suggested the lip not the bumper.

I might have one actually...need to photo the condition if so. I haven't considered selling it but am open to it for people in this community.

That would be incredible!
100% serous buster and not going to be picky if it’s in good enough condition to protect the front end.

So, I opened the box in the garage. Hardware was still in plastic, and the mask was in the bag...looks brand new in box / bag. I was stunned. Now, I don't know if I want to sell it or not, haha. I also have no idea what these things are worth with the crazy market but am always supportive of the people here.

If you are willing to sell, and Alan does not end up buying, I would like to be considered for purchase next in line.

Thanks
