For sale: 2000 Honda Civic Type R EK9 Race Base
Hello Everybody,
I am testing interest within the community for my 2000 Honda Civic EK9 Race Base. I am not sure if it will wet the appetite for those south of the border due to it not being 25 years old yet, but you never know. Anyway, I bought the car in December of 2016 and did not receive it until March 2017. During my time I had the timing belt and all necessary services done. In addition the transmission/LSD was completely rebuilt and the clutch replaced. And to ensure good shifting I had the linkage checked and bushings replaced.
As is often the case with imports, no documents came with the car but based on the shadows of sponsorship labels on the fiberglass hood, and other observations I will make shortly, it was most likely raced; hence the thrashed transmission and why it might have been sold. I have not made any modifications since I bought it, but there were plenty already with it. Modifications include exhaust manifold and exhaust and coilover suspension. In addition, an integrated front lip was installed as well as a fiberglass hood with hood pins. Another sign it was raced. The car has only slight surface rust on the underside and the body is in overall great condition with some blemishes. There are some painted over chips/scraps on the top of the bumper. Because the paint on the red valve cover was chipped I replaced it with a new item.
With it being a Race Base it has no sound deafening or under coating. Due to this, and apparently having hard engine mounts it is extremely loud and vibrates like a bugger. Similar to a race bike, as the loudness increases the vibrations go down. Even with a helmet on it hurt my brain, a sure sign of a race inspired former life.
The car's mileage is around 159XXX Kilometers. I am looking for 40,000 CAD. The car is currently in a secured lockup in Sherwood Park Alberta on jack stands. The posted pictures were taken in Japan on the dock. I can include more pictures to interested parties.
I am selling because the car is too hard core for me and my other projects need the funds. Because I don't doubt I have forgotten some details, please ask. Oh, yes it does have air conditioning. Which to me is strange for a race car, but according to a poster on the EK9 site is not uncommon.

Any more pics available other than the ones taken in 2016?

Hello,
I will be going to the storage unit tomorrow. I will take a series of pictures around the car and post them soon after.

Hello Everybody,
Here are some pictures under the car that were taken at the Honda dealership when they had finished the timing belt. I asked the service manager if I could look underneath and perhaps take some pictures. She was more than happy to let me. Today's pictures will come shortly. Hello,
Here are the pictures I took today. Although the front bumper is newly painted, it’s not perfect. Due to steep roads there are some minor/moderate scrapes on its lower chin. I have placed my fist in the exhaust to show how big it is, and have pointed out a scratch on the hood. And for those with a good eye they will be able to make out on the blue VIN plate near the radiator that the car's number is 1203666. Please note that although the chassis and engine number do not match - they are off by a couple - this discrepancy, as per information from the EK9 website, is normal. More pictures will be coming.

Hello,
These are the last pictures I took today. Again I have pointed out paint issues that are visible to me. One is for some black paint that has rubbed off next to roof spoiler. The second is at the top of the rear bumper. It appears that a number of small paint chips were scrapped into the surface. Not sure why this happened. Hope the pictures were helpful. Please contact me with your questions/inquires.

Trans look have been replaced? Or atleast painted at some point. Any info on that since you said you had it apart?
Any mechanic issues while driving that you can speak of? Have you performed a compression test on the motor?
Thanks!

Re: For sale: 2000 Honda Civic Type R EK9 Race Base
Hello DC2,
Great questions
1) As per the beginning of my ad the transmission was fully rebuilt using OEM parts. This was a real pain and took a long time because the rebuilder ordered the regular EK9 transmission parts and not the Race Base parts. I brought the car to him in summer and he didn't finish it until August. Please see receipt. When I got it back I noticed the car didn't turn very well. When the mechanic checked it over it turned out the LSD was fried. So I had it replaced. This was done a couple of times because the first LSD was substandard. Please see receipt. As you can see on this receipt the price was reduced because he was taking too long. When I finally got the car back, it went into storage. 2)For the compression, please see the receipt. I had this checked as soon as I could. This took a couple of months because I couldn't find a shop that wanted to touch a right hand drive car. As per the receipt. the compression was very close to 210psi for all cylinders. I went on the EK9 website and asked if this was good. Most thought that this level of compression and equality of compression might be a indication that the engine was rebuilt, others thought it was an indication of how good Honda puts engines together. As a side note when I brought it to Sherwood Park
Honda last year to have the time belt done they said that the belt looked new. Nevertheless because I was not certain, I had it replaced anyway 3)As for driving, it is savage. It is much, much quicker than my 97R, but it is much, much nosier. When I stored it last October it was running perfect. I intend on taking it back to Sherwood Park Honda mid month for a full inspection.
Please contact me with any other questions.

awesome ek9. mine is "normal" and its loud too, so couldnt imagine with even less deadening/no undercoating. glws

Hello, Thank you. It’s a combination of the lack of any sound deadening / undercoating and the drain pipe exhaust. A couple of times I have gone into a corner at around 5000 rpm dropped a gear and punched it. Holy Hell! I was screaming in surprise in how well it took the corner under a loaded transition but my scream was completely obliterated by the tailpipe.
