Looking for a SoCal (Los Angeles area) TypeR mechanic

Post by JRTypeR » Sat Jul 24, 2021 8:16 pm

Hi Everyone,

I'm a newbie to this forum and have joined under strenuous circumstances (i'll describe below). My father introduced me to typeR when got a 98 type R when I was around 13yo. Unfortunately, after he parked that beautiful car in front of a furniture shop (buying furniture for a place after my parents divorced) it got stolen and found stripped.

In 2002 he bought a 2000 TypeR with some modifications and added some extra security enhancements. It's been a joy for us with low miles over the years. Unfortunately (as noted above "strenuous circumstances) -My father passed away in a car accident/heart attack in my RSX Type S Sept 2019.

I'm now 35 and this car is not just one I am fond of because of how awesome it is but because of the meaning it brings for me with so many memories with our dad driving us in it. My brother and I are hoping to keep his TypeR but the car currently doesn't start. I believe it didn't have oil when my dad was last driving it and the engine shut off. I am trying to figure out if he blew a piston/the engine and basically what we need to get it up and running again. I'd love to find a great/reasonable/trustworthy mechanic in Los Angeles where we can tow the car too from his garage to get a diagnostic and have it fixed. My dad's mechanic retired/sold his business who had worked on the car and I'd love to have someone that knows this car intimately work on it.

Any tips/leads/ recommendations are greatly appreciated. Once that is all set, I look forward to becoming an active member of this community.

Thank you for your time and help here

Hey,

Sorry to hear about your dad but I'm sure getting the Type R back up and running to enjoy would mean a lot to you all. I do not live in California but follow a guy on instagram under Perfect_Honda who's a mechanic in the Los Angeles area I believe.

His account is solely based on his work with Hondas. If I were in the area with my Type R I wouldn't hesitate bringing it to his shop.

Here's a link to his page. https://www.instagram.com/perfect_honda/?hl=en

Hope this helps and good luck!

David

Not exactly Los Angeles area but there's Trumotive in Temecula. The owner also has a 1998 ITR.
