98’ Purge solenoid vs 2000 purge solenoid

Post by Vtecwreck » Sun Sep 12, 2021 2:53 pm

Hi everyone,

I am in the midst of restoring my car and was able to pick up a 2000 CDM ITR Purge solenoid with bracket and hoses. However, the hose the comes from the purge solenoid to the evap canister is too short.
Any idea what it could be? From my knowledge they should be the same. I wasn’t able to add the picture on the post so I’ll try adding it in the comments.

EDIT: I posted an image reference of a non-stock race car engine bay thinking that the purge solenoid was mounted somewhere else. After looking at more pictures and parts catalogs it seems perhaps the actual canister has a different mounting location explaining the different hose length.

In case it helps in your search.. All discontinued =/

For USDM:
17725-ST7-R00 is 1997
17725-ST7-L50 is 1998
17725-ST7-A31 is 2000-2001

UKDM (possible match??):
17725-ST7-G00 (1998)

If it were mine, I'd just use off the roll stuff from your local auto parts store and use an internal two-way male adapter to mate the OEM hose and a straight piece, or use one long straight piece creatively routed if it works any better. You could even try to find one with a little "jog" that goes in front of the fuel filter like the OEM one and mate it in, then use some epoxy filler and heat shrink over it to hide the crack. If you want a Honda part, judging by the part name I would also think you could get some bulk hose from Honda - (ask for Bulk Hose, Fuel (7.5x8000) - 8000 miiiight be length?? so you might need longer)

I've heard of heat shrink being used (heat, then cool with desired bend) for smaller diameter hoses to help "set" in curves, but not sure it would work with this diameter stuff.

I might also set an ebay alert for 17011-ST7-L02 and see if an actual type r (not CRV) one comes up with hoses.

Here's one with CRV hose:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/234006594228

It might be long enough but I can't really tell from pics, the only difference I can see is it doesn't jog in front of the fuel filter as the Type R does.

Hope that helps, I wish you the best! I can provide reference pictures if you need.

98’ Purge solenoid vs 2000 purge solenoid

Yes there are some significant differences between 97, 98-99, 00-01 evap systems.

From memory:

97 is modified obd1 setup, very basic no gas tank pressure sensor, small vapor return line small canister with no sensors.

98-99 add tank pressure sensor and valve on top of canister.

00-01 additional vent system at the top of tank (gas tank has 3 round openings), canister gets an additional sensor and mounting is flipped though largely in the same place there is a secondary valve and hose routing is different. Vapor return line is now large (~1/2”) tube.

The 98 Usdm purge solenoid is a round plug. The 00-01 use the same black plug all the other integra line up use as well as the civic and crv lineup. There’s something in on of these tsbs that you you need to change the stop valve and purge together or the other will short your evap component you are replacing.
