Well I did some more tonight on fitment.. It's too bad while making the mold we didn't include a lip at the edges of lip along with the clay seal, This would of allowed me to find the actual edge of the lip. But seems like the fiberglass is stubborn anyways to press clean against the bumper.

Soo I'm thinking 4 points where it'll actually screw into the bumper, using countersink holes along with a plug so you can't see them. This will make it squeeze up correctly, then I'll begin my resin seal process.

Customers will have to tap into there bumpers for fitment seems like, Then you should get a clean fit..

Once I'm happy with fitment ill post more detailed pics

Still at it..Won't stop until I have a process down.. Laying up fiberglass up to the edge while the lip is bolted on created a nice seal. Going to refine that one more time and begin some bodywork on the lip. This part is only to teach me the process of reproducing this lip fast, so obviously won't be for sale..

I'm hoping the next part doesn't need to be screwed into bumper for proper seal.. Going to work the mold a bit and try to get the part cleaner for less cosmetic repair, along with more sanding of the edge to seal it up closer for its final glass to the bumper..

I had a fiberglass lip on my S2k and it cracked when I touched a curb. What is the original lip made out of? Wouldn't that material hold up better to scrapes and light impact?

Some other forum research (for whatever it's worth) suggests OEM is ABS. OEM and aftermarket polyurethane are more likely to smoosh/tear vs. crack like fiberglass in my experience. I think what is appealing about fiberglass is that it's relatively easy to produce a mold and make one or repair one in a garage. I don't know what the process is for larger ABS parts (injection molded??)

Lips are unfortunately essentially expendable for lowered cars, especially when you live in an area with potholes, speedbumps, and have a gravel driveway like me. I have a few lips for my other cars that I can swap out to when I'm feeling like I want the cars to look nice. Having a source for some affordable fiberglass ones for the ITR would be nice. Another plus to fiberglass is cracks can be repaired relatively easily using a similar process to how they were made originally, whereas repairing plastic takes a bit of knowledge of materials and a bit of an artistic hand (see Paint Society on YouTube)

Fiberglass just doesn't have as much give, so it'll crack under stress easier. I use mat fiberglass/Polyester resin for speed and cost, plus I can take my time finishing parts as I've read it'll keep making a chemical bond without sanding as long as you don't add wax to it until final layer/ or pva... I just add wax to my final resin mix.

I'm hoping to sell these sometime after Christmas for a fair price.. I'm going to time myself on the next part and price according. Goal is a quality part that fits awesome, and helping the honda community finally have this lip back without needing spend 1k.. It'll be priced more on the cheaper side of a decent fiberglass part as I'm not a pro at this yet.

If that all goes to plan I will begin learning to work clay to make a mini "real time racing" style lip. Just a added in splitter/ somewhat lower design.

Have you made any progress on this? I'd love to get my hands on a true replica lip. The other replicas currently on the market don't seem to have the nice sharp lines that the OEM ones do.
