Re: Restoring #97-00012
Wonderful news! I remember my first drive after rebuilding 98-1040 back from a shell. I was all smiles and yet completely uncomfortable/over protective.
It's awesome to see you simply enjoying the car now after all the wrench time. Enjoy sir.

Re: Restoring #97-00012
It finally happened. I finally got an OEM lip. It needs a little love, but all the mounting tabs are there, and thats what I care most about. It was going to be sanded and resprayed fresh anyway so no worry of some existing damage.
I have to admit, it has been a piece holding me back from doing the final touches to the car and really driving it. I was reluctant because I did not want to put on the lip I had that was not OEM. It's a great remake looking at the two next to each other, but it has no mounting points. The caR to me is not complete without the lip on it, and its not right to have come this far, all these hours, all the OEM parts throughout, to fake the funk on the one of the staple parts to the 97 front.
I will get it repaired and repainted, and then I plan to have it 3D scanned professionally before it goes back on the car. Let's see what we can come up with for a remake.

Congrats on sourcing the lip. Looking forward to seeing finished and buttoned up.

Re: Restoring #97-00012
Well lots of small stuff happening on the '97. Most importantly.....
Speedo is working!!!
Was a whole slew of loose and unclipped wires in multiple spots. This bag is the remains of the wires that were changed out in multiple spots. ECU, behind dash, and wire harness. All is back in place, no CEL, VSS and speedo are working, and most importantly VTEC!!!
ABS light is off also! Got a new front passenger ABS sensor, and used a friends OBD tool to modulate the brakes and test the ABS system and unit and all checked out 100%!! Super lucky with that for now!! Let's hope that holds true once she gets some good mileage on heR!
The crossover on a completely OEM setup is so crisp. It sounds REALLY good. 3rd -4th gear exchange at high rpm in and out of vtec is bliss and she PULLLLLS once she clicks 4th. Really really happy with motor health at this time. She feels stronger than my '01 that needs a medical check. LOL
From here I was able to close up the passenger footwell, FINALLY after a long time of being covered in tools and wiring. For now....
One last good clean up before Winter sticks us in the garage for a few months... Then we can try to narrow down this battery draw. Im pretty sure its radio related. We'll see.
More details to come. More work to follow. She will be ready, badged, and stickered by Spring!
Stay Tuned.

Re: Restoring #97-00012
We all make mistakes... I'll be the first to admit that... But damn this one sucked!!
When installing the heater box, I did not make sure to route the hot water water valve cable....
Was having trouble with the blower motor also, and was driving myself crazy..... Well, then this happened..
Took everything apart. Was NOT happy to have to do this... Here is the cable I'm talking about to reference for those who are unsure of my stupidness....
2 nights of time wasted, and just mad at myself... But, it's done, and done right. I also took a ton of extra time to route all of the wires and cables behind the dashboard back into allllll the oem spots and routes... Some things were out of place once I really dug back in there. We were prob so excited to get the dash on, we just threw it all in and wanted to see it work....
I'm doing my final check list for Spring at this time, and going through everything. Some small brackets and such to get on there still, but I think the light at the end of the tunnel is starting to get a little bit brighter.
Stay tuned.

Re: Restoring #97-00012
All back together all nice nice like. Took some extra time and routed all the lines and wires much better than they were previous.
Power steering issue up next. Then we are closing in on decals and emblems!!
