First, thank you for offering to step up financially, I really appreciate those like yourself who are both willing to pay first (many delay/wait to pay) and step up to pay more. It puts a smile on my face and I'm sure others.

Cheap seats here but track event I am in - big parking lot meet honestly probably not

Get its harder - I wonder if you could round up 20 folks to pay for tickets on the day you book the track to ensure you don't take a loss? "Founder club" - make those folks a T-shirt or something and charge 2x. Ill do one of those

2nd on this. If just a "hang-out"/parking lot meet (unless Hooters... RTW loved Hooters.. )Not as interested. But if its somewhere "special" (Realtime Collection Hall as example) that would hold a bit more pull IMO.

If track event ( my preferred ) I would also be willing to put up some extra coin up front to aid in prelim costs.

I also have put on many car shows/events here in our local town. We did a car show the first Monday of every month for 3 years in a row before Covid and would have 100+ cars every meet. Approvals from city, submitted plans and permits, police presence, insurance, the whole nine. (TommyFYeah and AdamLZ came to one actually from over an hour away before they totally blew up) I would absolutely be down to help with planning/helping/gathering volunteers/making designs/calling tracks for availability/etc...

And im SURE im not the only one.

Many times what I did for big events was make a list of jobs needed, and completely overbook volunteers. Every 1 person job had 2 people available as example. If someone flakes or isnt a good fit, you have another fill-in. Also, if you are volunteer and someone in charge says "I think we are covered, go enjoy!!" Wheres the foul? I would rather be signed on for work and be not needed than not have an event to go to.... I live close to a few tracks here in the Northeast, and have small pull at a track I have been to a few times (New York Safety Track) but I unsure of how much of a crowd would want to come to NY?? Maybe Im wrong?

I would think if we were able to see a list of jobs needed for volunteers, we can start a preliminary sign up. People cant volunteer if they don't know what is needed, and sometimes it needs to be laid out in front of us to get the gears turning.

I cannot reply to all of this at the moment. Joining up with another event has some drawbacks, and it's actually that scenario that prompted ITRCA to go alone 20 years ago. Thankfully, that worked out well, and we did become a group that others looked up to and eventually partnered with. I've had some discussions with a couple of groups about partnering up with the track portion.

With that said, I don't know that partnering with NASA is high on my list. There are other groups that might align better.

One option might be centered around some Type R specific gathering followed by a track event hosted by a friend's group.

To clarify my prior statements, we agree, a parking lot meet is not what has been discussed as an alternative. Instead, a community reunion style event that allows the many non-tracking members within the community to also actively participate. Off track also allows sponsors, who financially assist in making the event happen by keeping costs lower for you, the drivers. I want to do a better job of connecting the many awesome community sponsors, who themselves, are active parts of the greater Type R community. Many one DC2, FK8's, DC5R's, NA2R's, etc.

I'm overdue to show back the community survey results prior to COVID, holding myself accountable by posting, but many repeat attendees agree. My * is I recognize many never attended, no long track, etc., and while I've stepped down, I will continue to advocate for all.

First, thank you for offering to step up and contribute. If anyone isn't aware, Expo was always run by community volunteers with the exception of grid workers from the community. Given 2x stood in the sun all day keeping everyone safe via active coordination with track staff.

Second, you raise a really excellent point around sharing the list of roles the Expo committee leads. Yes, we do have a template, but I'll own any failures to date for not sharing back to the community. A post will follow....again, posting publicly to hold myself accountable.

Yes, we have previously considered NASA as well as many other groups, including NSXPO. Type R Expo largely staffed the instructors needed to run NSXPO in 2013, we ran the NSXPO track event in 2015 when we did joint Type R Expo 17 & NSXPO 17 event, and we largely planned and 100% ran the second joint event for NSXPO 18 track event & Type R Expo 18 West, including NSXPO's track registration and the join Expo banquet. The are pros and cons to partnering but it's worth revisting.

While I attended many NASA events across NASA-SE and NASA-Mid Atlantic after Type R Expo 7 got me first into tracking, their events are my preference when traveling. To travel a long distance over flight & drive to only get ~6x 25min sessions, many of which are shortened or bumped due to wheel to wheel racing, isn't my preference. For those traveling long distances, if and when we partner, I want to make sure the amount of track time justifies the travel time.

In short, all options are on the table but thoughtfully considered. As many of us come from an IT background, we have opinions, but loosely held- as what was best yesterday, might not be best today.

And, I "comissioned" another set of upgrades for my blue '17 that should be ready by mid-year.

Decided to keep the stock seats for safety (SRS) reasons, so I have a brand new set of red Bride race seats in box at home.

Going from MCS 2WNR to three ways.

The "commissioned" bit was wrt a separate/newly built drivetrain with nominally upgraded cams/headwork/valves, Hondata fuel to finally get installed for the newly sleeved block w/forged and coated internals, multiplate OSG differential, twin disc clutch, Full Race intercooler and piping to go with the already installed EFR 7163, put a race cat back in (for legality), and another very fully vented CF hood (which will get painted body color).

Should be able to do ~ 400 whp on 93 on the Mustang dyno at Pure Tuning/Pure RND.
I will have lots of spares, and am up to 9 sets of wheels/tires in 20", 19" and 18" sizes.

And yes, my retirement fund will be taking a bit of a hit!
