Thanks! They are a dream wheel for me as well. I was surprised how well the 16" wheel with the 215 tire looked at stock height. The previous owner of them had them on an R with spoon calipers with no spacer and a 48 offset. My first attempt at auto-x in 2018 has me slightly worried about possible damage to them...

What are your concerns with Auto-X?

16”s easily clear Spoons, even with higher offset, I previously owned a +42 TA set. I may try to grab a set of 16x7/8 set in the future but I will need to confirm clearance on my BBK.

Caked on brake dust and rolling a tire and scraping the lip.

The brake dust properties will vary by pad. This community is filled with those who AutoX & track, so you can confirm which pads offer better dust properties.

Cleaning the rims with cold water after each day will help prevent any issues. As silly as it sounds, waxing the rims will also help.

What tire size are you running? Most Ultra High Performance Summer and Max Performance Summer tires offer stiff side walls.

Currently on the car are Falken Azenis 215/45/16. Depending on how much I like auto-x, I would prefer to use a cheap set of 15-16" wheels and different set of tire so that I can prolong the life of this set of tires. At least for the first event, it will be on the Falkens.

15'' tires are typically significantly cheaper, which is why many opt for 15'' wheels. Example, the Azenis 615K+ are $100 more per set for 16''s vs. 15''s. They do offer stiffer sidewalls, as most do in the Extreme Performance Summer category. We have a Tire Information Thread if/when the search starts for new tires.

In preparation for my first autox event (which I continue to miss/ not attend) I had the brakes bled at Acura. For a little extra, they sanded the pads flat, cleaned and painted the calipers and center of the rotors black. It turned out much better than I though it would.

Addressed the gremlin oil leak to the camshaft oil seals. While at it, the valve cover gasket was changed along with the little o-ring under the cam cap, distributor ring and the cam cap seal. No more leak afterwords and I have to thank the below tool for making the job much easier.


Got a hold of a mugen twinloop axle back. I was looking forward to the whole exhaust but found most with a dent on the resonator and found some forums where people complained about the resonator being to low. The car was taken to an exhaust shop and muffler mated to the 2.5" T1R midpipe. It is very quite with almost a stock note.


To add to the muffler, the spoon oil and radiator caps were swapped for mugen. Along with getting a deal on the front upper strut tower bar.



The front lip had some bad scrapes on the bottom when the car was lowered. It was removed (painfully) and was painted with all new mounting hardware. While the bumper was off, the fender turn signals were wired properly and a burned up windshield reservoir motor was replaced.
