For the record, from an NSXCA e-mail this morning:
" We are excited to announce the dates have been finalized! NSXPO 2024 will be held in Dallas-Fort Worth October 23-27, 2024. "

Oh, and I ordered a proper rear wing for the Blue '17 track car, to complete the latest/last set of updates.
APR GTC-300 67" for the FK8. 8-)

coolhandluke wrote: Thu Jan 11, 2024 3:44 pm The FK8 folks out west roll deep at track days and they have for years, dating to the release of the FK8. Yes, the car had (has?) overheating issues. No, that didn't stop the CTR crowd from renting out and doing their own local versions of a dedicated community track day at Buttonwillow, Thunderhill, and more. I've seen pictures of 100-200+ FK8's at these events.

I agree, there definitely is a following, but this community (myself included) hasn't done a great job of including these newer CTR owners. I'm not pointing any fingers- more of less pointing at the fact the Type R community could/would be much stronger together than split into fractions for each sub-model. There are a number of former ITR owners who now own an FK8 or FL5, but are disconnected from this community.
This...

This thread was made with this exact mentality. There is now a CROWD of "R" owners and deeply passionate Honda enthusiasts. We would be a much stronger COMMUNITY if we COLLECTIVELY came together... (See what I did there..? Notice the name of the thread!!!... ;) )

Expo could be a big deal again! Lets make that happen!

As an alternative, Adam at GridLife has announced their 2024 schedule and it includes a date mid October @ PittRace.
Which is kind of my home track, with Nelson's an equal distance the other way. :drink:
Adam is great peeps and a friend of the Type R Expo community, he was my instructor at Type R Expo 10 at Autobahn Country Club.

I feel this is a great example of a Type R community track day- which have always been a thing. Previously, many from this community would go to West Michigan Honda Meet track weekend at Gingerman, the precursor series to GridLife, to which many from the Expo community have supported via staffing or as paid drivers. I'm a fan of Adam and team.

There are several Type R Expo community members in Dallas that I would like to pay a visit to. This could be another great community track day.

It would be great to see another Expo happen. Realistically I don't think it will, at least not as it was before. The cars are too valuable now and enough have changed hands that I don't think there would be enough for a good showing at any event (as-in the owners tracking them). The only way forward as I see it is bringing in the CTR guys. How to do that I have no idea. Until that community can be grown I think a piggy back event is best. Or drop the track part of it and make it a purely social event, though again with the new crop of collector/speculator owners that could be a challenge.

To answer the questions someone posted, I don't have an ITR but will pay to track my car, but nowhere near the $1,250 price point. I also would not pay $500 to spectate. Expo has always been a grassroots event and a top tier track was never a prerequisite (from my perspective). I think The Firm would be a good place for it. It's definitely not well known so the track isn't a draw, but a small Expo there should be much cheaper than other tracks, the location isn't bad and a return-to-roots sort of event could be just the thing for community building.

This is just my current-thinking $0.02.

I'm pretty sure this is the Official NSXCA video link to last year's event in Atlanta (end of Sept through Oct. 1st).

The crew behind GridLife have been Type R Expo supports and many from the Type R Expo committee have directly supported previous GridLife events by helping run. They are some great folks.

Slight clarification, the CTR folks have long-since been a sizable and vibrant community. 250+ have rented out tracks. I agree, that bridge has not yet been built, which is on all of us.

How? Get engaged. I've had great conversations merely attending local CTR or Type R community events. It starts with just being an enthusiast and connecting. Many connections have followed up via DM's when then next Expo is so that they could attend.

I could host 5-10 folks at Club Motorsports in Tamworth NH in the fall for a Friday day if folks wanted to do that?
