I have an 01 gsr that needs to be rebuilt this spring and im toying with the idea of building a 'poor mans type R' motor
b18c1 block
b16a2 head
skunk2 stage 1 cams (or ITR cams if i can find them)
valve springs/retainers/etc
p73-A0 pistons
itr intake manifold
plm 4-2-1 header
would a stock USDM p73 ecu run this setup? i need to be obd2 compliant and do not want to do any tuning at the moment.
from the research ive done, it should bolt up and i can program the immobilizer myself or just get it disabled.
has anyone done this?

Re: usdm p73 ecu on poor man Type R GSR build
Should work just fine, and many others have done this previously.
If you want to refresh the P72 head instead of finding a PR3 head, you can also do so and purchase the old blox or gen 1 Skunk-2 ITR clone intake manifolds. They are available used and are very similar to the original P73 intake manifold, within the bounds of a stock ECU tune.

I've read the PR3 head flows better..I guess not enough to make a difference?
will the slightly higher commpression ratio be within bounds of the stock ecu?
as far as the heads go..do I need to upgrade the full valve train to spin it up 8400? or can i get away with just doing the springs?
