Re: Looking for Engine Rebuild/Machine/Head Shops
Sigh...
After receiving my Engine back from shop, I finally had time to toss it back In. They picked the engine up on a Friday and dropped it off the next which was awesome. Everything brand new besides the block and head itself and the crankshaft and cams. They painted the block got damnit. Paint in some threads and in the oil dipstick tube and the oil filler on the valve cover. Also they installed a new timing belt but painted and reused my old timing covers so after pulling off the valve cover I saw the timing cover was rubbing against the timing belt. So I order a new timing cover.
All I had to do before dropping it in was finish up my abs removal. So I woke up at 5am and got started removing the pump, lines, and plugs yes removing all the wires from the firewall. Reloomed the passenger side harness and began making custom brake lines in place of the missing ones. Anyway I’m trying to paint a picture of a long day rushing to get this done. So I finish all that bs and I’m prepping the engine to drop it in. As I’m putting the oil sender unit in I am struggling alittle with the paint. Instead of chasing the threads and cleaning them I proceed to overtorque it. The boss around the threads cracked. So I rush it down to my local machine shop as they were closing and said they wouldn’t be able to look at it until Monday. So I call them today(Monday) and they said they wouldn’t be able to fix it. So now I’m wondering if I should just tell them to plug it and I’ll run the stock sender unit of my sandwich plate or should I find a shop with the ability to fix it.
What would you fine ITR folk recommend I do to fix my dumbass costly mistake.
