HPDE Auto Insurance - what do you have?
Currently I have Safeco for all our cars. My NSX friends were encouraging me to use Wawanesa as they cover HPDE days. After calling him the rep was really nice and stated "if something were to happen at a HPDE event or otherwise we would give you the depreciated value of the car." This was a red flag for me and I let him know this was no ordinary integra. To which he responded he once owned a GSR and ITR and both were stolen. Rough estimate I would get $3,000 back if the car was deemed totaled.
Sad to say this is probably what Safeco would provide, although I know there have been many cases where ITR owners push back on insurance companies and have gotten the pay out amount raised. I don't plan on totaling my car but in an unfortunate case at the track I'd like to have the comfort knowing my insurance would cover me.
What options are out there guys?
Thanks!

I have Hagerty for regular insurance. I remember the guy told me when I set it up that they also can insure for hpde events, but he said I have to set it up for each event. That's all I know so as I haven't taken it to an hpde event yet.

Times have changed, insurances rarely cover HPDE's as driver education anymore. This could be due to high-profile lawsuits from track days.... I would opt for stated value through Lockton Infinity/others for HDPE (on)track insurance.

I can't remember his screen name, but didnt someone crash their 4 door integra at an event and went through the insurance process? Too bad the thread is gone. That was insightful

That was Ramzi. I'm sure we could have him re-share it.

Yes, sadly, the user is TurboLS. It was at NSXPO 2013 @ VIR. He was smart to insure the car via Lockton, as a friend was driving and totaled the car.

I don't know anything about insurance for an hpde event but I did buy some parts off a guy with a totaled em1. He was rear ended and got a really poor pay out for the car so parting it was his only option. The insurance company was safeco. He also had injuries and his lawyer told him safeco was one of the worst insurance companies and they would be fighting tooth and nail for anything from safeco.

Damn that's not encouraging as I have Safeco lol. I did end up in a minor rear end accident in the parking lot, both of us were backing out and my insurance (Safeco) was extremely helpful as the other party ended up denying she was at fault at all and I was backing out way too fast. This was also with a Toyota Camry not the R though.
I had heard of another track insurance where you can agree upon an amount the car's worth but must sign up for at least 3 events and it was fairly pricey - NSX = $60,000 agreed upon value - price was $3300 for 3 events.
