Long time lurker from the previous forum, but I had to register just to reply to this thread. I hit a bear with my '98 R back in 2004 going about 80 on the Mass Turnpike. Totaled the bear and the car! Luckily I was uninjured. Now have a 2000 PY R with no animal damage whatsoever.

The fact that there has been 3 98 type r's for sale in this short of time is pretty rare. It used to happen often but not in recent years.

This looks like an easy fix I wouldn't of let the car go.

That OG Shift knob I absolutely love....
I need the boot. Car will be repaired . No need to make it a parts car.

Looks like the winning bidder decided not to pay for the car. The car is back up for auction as of today. If you win an auction at copart and decide not go ahead with the purchase you have the option to pay a cancellation fee and have the car re-listed.

Sounds like the winning bidder got a little too bid happy and realized $20k for a non repairable branded parts car didnt make sense. Wonder what the reserve is, probably close to their estimated value?

Its possible the person did not even realize the title was no repairable or when they went to pick it up they saw something they didn't like but I doubt that the car looks very well taken care of.

The cancellation fee is $400 or 10% of the total price whichever is greater. So basically the winning bidder had to drop $2050 to walk away from the car.

I'm absolutely positive it's new owner knows how to title wash it to get her back on the road. It's flood history will stay with the car but getting a legit road worthy title isn't exactly rocket science.
Maybe Rice Cake knows the owner and can chime in on why he did not go through with purchase? $2k just to walk on it? That sucks if truth.

I don't think Rice cake knows the owner I just think he figured whoever would spent that amount of money knew a way to get the car back on the road legally.

If you google copart cancellation fee you will see the $400 fee or 10% whichever is greater charge.

I recently purchased a SCSB Chevy truck and changed my mind after winning it and had to eat the $400 due to shippers charging double over the usual cost at the time.

That non repair title applies to Texas it says it can't be titled in TEXAS. Click on the question mark next to it for a description. Arizona will title it. I wouldn't call it title washing either it will still be branded as reconstructed and will carry the flood history with it and can never be registered in Texas again. Titling in other states could be different. Depends on your states laws but they would need to recognize state brands to not let you register it. Arizona won't let you register a certificate for destruction like Florida has or other states but this one you can. Dealers flood the market with flood cars after hurricanes here. Did anyone view the car in person? Does it stink ? Water line on the carpet or mark from the mat?
