Re: 1997 Gsr(and other cars) track/build log
What are you running for front pads? I'm currently torn on what rear pad to switch to. Some prefer a 1x step down from what is up front. The risk being, rear lock up, but the goal is to allow the rear to do as much work as possible. Others run a light pad in the rear, to avoid rear lockup, since the fronts do all the work.
Bummer on the wash of a weekend.

Re: 1997 Gsr(and other cars) track/build log
updates:
new rear rotors
new rear pads Carbotech xp8s
welded cracks near rear right shock tower
Trying to get the car all prepped for March track day at Spring Mountain.
Old oem pads:
As you can see, they wore uneven. I am not sure why? All my the brake pin sliders were greased prior, etc.
But I replaced the oems with carbotech xp8s, so that should solve my constant changing of rear pads. I'll keep an eye on if they wear evenly or not.
I did discover this:
Drove to three parts stores to find a replacement boot:
finished product:
and before/after on the chassis cracks:
trashed:
Big plans coming soon thou. Bought a S100 (old school) and I am finally gonna get a tune. I was gonna get COP setup and tune on S300 buuuuut I decided its too much money for just reliability. Because I mean, I've used oem Dizzy for like 25 plus track days no issue. I'll just bring extra ignition parts.
Also, I'll been researching and asking around about getting a full cage for the car. Coming soon

I always enjoy your updates.
I would advocate for an S300. Technology has changed a bit over the last ~12yrs.

I know, I am getting a lot of flak from everyone about the s100coolhandluke wrote: ↑Tue Jan 16, 2018 5:59 pm I always enjoy your updates.

Re: 1997 Gsr(and other cars) track/build log
updates:
new seat
"tuned" on s100
valve cover powder coated
new oem fuel filter
AEM fuel pump
injectors cleaned
rear spring change
replace passenger side axle
So I don't have much pictures, as I am horrible at logging the build vs documenting the track time (videos haha)
Anyways, I finally got a "tune". I use quotations because I didnt get a dyno tune, I got a kinda off-the-shelf tune from LDL speedshop local here in Vegas. I don't think I would gain too much from a dyno tune. The car feels faster, which doesn't mean much cause feeing vs reality is different
As seen above, I did some supporting upgrades and maintenance for the tune. Changed my passenger axle with my one of my spares because the boot ripped on my race prepped axle
Also, I upped the rear spring rate to 750lbs from 700lbs. I wanted slightly more rotation out the car, even thou it seems the tires temps are even with the 700lbs rate. I decided to really focus only on tire temps for the front and tune the rear for how I want the rear react. As long at I am getting the most mechanical grip I can out the front I will be happy. (which i am not sure if I really am)
valve cover bling:
I recently replaced my Sparco Halo with a Recaro SPG-racer
my excuse was the sparco was too wide and I didnt like halo design compared to recaro.
Other reasons:
Bling
period correct
March PCA @ SMMR 3.4 :
new pb of 2:41.78
footie:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7X1OQe_rScs
overall goal is still a 2:39.99, which is very possible for the car in its current form, I just have to bring it there.
no major problems during the weekend, except my fuel regulator kinda took a shit and cause my car to run to super rich.
I ordered a new AEM fuel regulator when I got home, so i"ll save that for the next post.
Thanks guys.
upcoming track days :
April buttonwillow
April Hff @ Las vegas Motor speedway
small break
itr expo West!
new seat

How are the rear brakes holding up? I found it odd you were running through rear pads, but you do haul the mail so...
I dig the new seat. That appears to offer better visibility than others.
What are the April BW dates? I may try to get my car ready...

Love this build.
I wouldn't mind picking up an S100...where abouts did you locate that one?
