oil pan baffle necessary at expo?

Post by 97cwr » Mon May 21, 2018 11:42 am

I picked up an oil pan baffle and I'm not sure if I can get it installed before the expo. I was just wondering is it a must to have? how many don't run one? I'm in the amateur grouping, running a stockish integra type r with re71 r tires and koni/gc suspension. I've done a couple track days with just the stock oil pan, but just wondering if this track and my setup will require one?

I would recommend one. But most of us have tracked a lot without one. I don’t have one on the rhd. I just keep the oil topped off.

It's nice to have, but you can get by without one if:

- keep oil level up (watch this before each session)
- not running R-comps

That was our general rule ~15 years ago. Novice group is slow enough to keep the lateral Gs down also.

I've never run 1 and never had a problem at VIR or Road America but like the others said, watch the oil level and run the good stuff.

Youll be fine just check your oil after each session. Ive done a lot of tracking and have only lost VTEC once through a corner. It was at VIR at Expo 16 through Hog Pen but that corner has high compression grip and lateral G's. My oil was very low too :hammer:

Dominion doesnt have any high grip corners like Hog Pen so I think anyone will be fine there with a stock pan and sufficient oil level.

Willard doing a final drive install at Expo 3? :o

I think we've had just about everything done at Expo over the years. 18 years...the event is legally an adult now.
