Restoring #97-00012
Re: Restoring #97-00012
Cant wait to see this when its back from paint!
Question and some insight for the community. Where did you wind up getting your calipers from? Im going to be replacing my front and rears and would love the original finish. I see Acura has the fronts being sold as rebuilt, but the rears are new only and priced at $341 each!!! I have read somewhere awhile back that if going through a standard parts supplier you will most likely get them in a silver finish these days as far as a reman unit goes.

I actually found them from RockAuto.com9701TypeR wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 9:50 pmQuestion and some insight for the community. Where did you wind up getting your calipers from? They are made by a company called "Centric" who specializes in re-man brakes it seems. They are an exact match as far as I can tell to the OEM original unit.
I just took a look at the website and it seems there are only (4) FRONT LEFT calipers remaining as available at this point. I still have no rear calipers either. I check every other day or so to see if new zinc'd rear's pop up. If I don't find something soon, I may reach out to Centric directly and see if they can re-man and zinc my original ones.

Re: Restoring #97-00012
The giRl got dropped off to the body shop yesterday to start makin heR all purrrdyyy like.
All dents, dings, chipped/cracked paint, glass, seals etc. are all being repaired and the caR will be coming back to me in primer. Once she's back it's go time for re-assembly. Engine can get put together and go in, ABS lines and wiring can all start to get setup. I got my dashboard bard bars all back from sandblast, so Ill be spraying those and remounting all that ASAP. Im going to loosely mount all the headlights and such so they can be evened up by the body shop to be perfect with the panels, but I should be able to get them all cleaned, wired, and functioning. We are always used to getting rid of all that OEM nonsense silly stuff..... And now we have to make sure we put every single nut and bolt and clamp and bracket in its place like its coming off the assembly line. Tedious? Sure f'in is.. But we will know that we tightened every nut and bolt and that every piece and bracket it there like it should be.
Interior is going to stay empty until the entire car is completely painted. We should be able to get the interior all back in and buttoned up in a weekend no problem.
I have to drop off the hood and hood brackets to the body shop in next day or two, so I hope to be able to sneak a picture or two when I go to drop those things off. He said I should have it back by the end of the month or just after so Im super excited! I'm sure I'll be updating with motor details as I'm waiting for the old giRl to make heR way back.
Stay tuned.

You never know what could be left in the parts bin. I ordered two new power steering bolts for the motor and one was a zinc bolt. Loving your build btw .

Re: Restoring #97-00012
sure wish my centric calipers came with that finish!! i ordered the reman fronts with brackets and mine came with the usual coat of oil to prevent rust.... did you order new centric units or remans?? mine were purchased roughly a year and a half ago...Dc2-ProductionS wrote: ↑Wed Jun 06, 2018 12:02 pmI actually found them from RockAuto.com9701TypeR wrote: ↑Thu May 31, 2018 9:50 pmQuestion and some insight for the community. Re: Restoring #97-00012
Apologies in advance for taking over your thread but have some good info to share.
After speaking to Centric they only reman calipers and dont sell directly to the public. The sales guy had very specific info to share and more so exactly what WE want to know. When ordering any caliper starting with part #141 you will receive the reman caliper in its original bare steel finish, no pads. He also said these will rust over time! If the part starts with #142 you will receive the reman caliper with pads and a Gold Zinc finish Sadly the reason we are not seeing Right front or Rears available is because they are out of stock.
