VIN Stickers

Post by audipwr1 » Mon Jun 25, 2018 8:44 pm

I searched high and low and couldnt find a good answer here so forgive me if repetitive.

Where do I find Vin stickers on the front bumper, rear bumper (and are there stickers on the rear quarters?)

Going to look at a car that for sure has had the front driver quarter replaced and trying to see how far the damage went.

Assuming you mean front driver side fender damage? Quarter panel would be rear of the door for an Integra.

IIRC: vin sticker will be on fenders mount strip just under hood (not sure if all years had them). I want to say door vins are at the rear near the latch. I also want to say front bumper vins should be just under the hood but I’m less certain on that. All are generally pretty obvious. Check if underside of hood is painted, aftermarket hoods will sometimes be left a primed black and won’t have any factory stickers.

RDOT stickers indicate a factory replacement part, any thing else and YMMV.

I also recommend looking for consistency in the orange peel of the paint. As well as ridges where door jams were taped excessive (non-matching orange peel) or masking ridges in jams are indicative of poor paint jobs IMHO.

If pearl color make sure the amount of pearl matches to your needs (matching pearl and metallic is harder for aftermarket paint).

For front end damage check the radiator support as best you can to be sure there is no un-repaired damage there.

AFAIK the front bumper VIN is under the black panel thing that you have to unscrew some screws and lift off to see sticker.

It is called the FRONT UPPER BUMPER STIFFENER BRACKET 71142-ST7-000. (or FUBSR for short :P ) I bought one from my dealer a while back as I have a bit of rust bubbling on mine.

The VIN sticker is supposed to be underneath. Open the hood and remove the 9 screws with a large Philips screw driver. I have not taken mine off to confirm yet (2001 CDM).

Exactly. It's pretty obvious what you need to remove once you take a look.
