Stumbled across this. Sw2 and Mr. sterling silver supplied the the car for the article apparently. I am guessing the recent one on bat maybe. Auto correct. Romeo

Error in the article.

"The first batch of 500 didn’t even have air conditioning or a radio, although subsequent limited runs in 1999, 2000, and 2001 had those refinements."

Which was our ‘98,’99 and ‘00 in Canada. Best year was 97 followed by ‘01 cdm. Everybody knows that.

Hagerty article. Integra type r compared to Alpha Romero

Curious where the info that ITRs were seam welded comes from? Is that specific to a year or non-US region?

I’ve stripped most of the undercarriage, interior, and gutted the engine bay on my 01 shell. Nothing I’ve seen was seam welded and there isn’t much of the body I can’t see at this point.

I agree. It's my humble that the seam welding claim is more to do with either an internet belief that caught on or some journalist reckoned it was and it's been repeated ever since. Like aklackner I've had my JDM R near down to the bare bones and didn't see any evidence of seam welding. I've also been involved in stripping a UK/Euro spec. I did see the extra metal around the rear strut turrets and it had more spot welds in various places than a JDM SiR that I stripped for various panels, but no seam welds. I have a few bits of Honda sales and promotional literature(JDM/UKDM/ITDM/OZDM) from the time and "chassis reinforcements" yes, but no mention of seam welding.

Mods please correct the autocorrect in the title back to Alfa Romeo. Otherwise we look like idiots. :)
