Dumb, Stubborn, and bound to end up penniless…….
Re: Dumb, Stubborn, and bound to end up penniless…….
Work is still keeping me too busy to get much done work on the ITR so I’ll have to settle for spending some $ on goodies.
Also starting to look at body cart options to get the shell to a body shop. Any one have something they’d recommend?
New shift light (in the old LS for a pic)

DC2 pedal set

I love reading, very insightful. The humor, lol. I love what you're doing sir. I did a few "what? wow's!" aloud, everyone here has some great approaches to restoring a car, I love them all. Subscribed for progress.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had an update but have finally managed to finish wire wheel work on the undercarriage and found time to do an etching treatment (metal blast) for exposed metal.
If my work schedule cooperates I might take next Friday off to start getting the Rust Bullet primer coats going.
With the undercarriage starting to move along again, I might start trying to welding up a body cart, as early as this weekend, so I can get the shell off to the body shop once the undercarriage is all wrapped up.
I’ve also been playing with design for custom coilovers. Little out of the box but it’s been a fun exercise, can’t wait to see how they drive.
Me starting to go beautiful mind!
Oh yeah I picked up an OEM lip (staged here on the old LS)

That lip spoiler is beautiful. Are you going with the fog lights from the ls as well on the R ?
Re: Dumb, Stubborn, and bound to end up penniless…….
Yeah the foglights are one of the reasons why I’m changing from the 01 to the 97 front.

JDM (SiR) but yes OEM. Stanley yellow glass lenses diagonally adjustable (55w IIRC) w/full OEM wiring. Made a huge difference in night visibility.
Here’s my LS project after HID retrofit and JDM fogs went on. HIDs use Denso potted ballasts, morimoto bixenon projectors, and OSRAM NightBreaker bulb (more toward the OEM/softwhite spectrum to limit glare)

Ok well it may not be pretty but it’s starting to look like a body cart and should get 01-386 to the body shop and home without issue.
I still need to add risers (~8”) to the inside corners then fab the mounting system (basically notches that the pinch welds will sit in and a bolt that will clamp them down and lock the cart and body together) but that’s another day.

Ok here’s an update on the actual ITR:
2x coats on floor pan (one more to go before 3m rubberized coating)
