New Spoon Goodies Coming Soon?
New Spoon Goodies Coming Soon?

Looking at info on the Australian distributor for Spoon it looks like 16x7.5 and 16x8.5 SW388 in offsets for the DC2 are anticipated as well as an updated bucket seat. Nice to see some new DC2 targeted products from Spoon lately.

Sweet man. I also heard rumors about 16" spec Desmond regamasters coming in the next year or two. (I'm pretty sure Desmonds are coming back, currently in FK8 spec, b/c Edit: ICB bought the rights?) So maybe that is related to Spoon sw388's coming back.

Re: New Spoon Goodies Coming Soon?
having owned what i will call v1.1 and v1.3 I would say that it appears v2 is an upgrade. The material is going to be a bit more friendly.
that being said, having owned these seats and having sold these seats, i dont think they are worthy of their price unless you are doing a spoon build. they are expensive, they look nice, and that are jdm bling. but they are not certified and you can get better or even the same quality seat for quite a bit less. but i think that applies to a lot of jdm parts.

I thought Matt / ICB bought the rights to those but could be mistaken. I noticed the FK8 spec as well.Dave7CDMTYPER wrote: ↑Mon Apr 01, 2019 8:41 pm Sweet man. New Spoon Goodies Coming Soon?
Kirkey or nothing?
You’re right though it’s always hard to get past the hype and marketing. Most “tuner” products are much too one size fits all, empty marketing, or at worst promote dangerous behaviors (like rigid back seats without a cage and harness bar, etc) and rarely justify the price. That all being said I do feel like Spoon does a good job (when you can get a good translation) of at least selling a story of what the marketing team thinks the engineering team made. Also what they make tends to be at least manufactured well.
Personally I’m just excited to see some new/returning products in the DC2 market.
On the seat itself:
I could see it being very comfortable for a thin person.
Appears to be well appointed with viscous “memory” foam (cooling type if your lucky)
If we’re to believe this is a random “leaked” sample the overall quality is impressive (no sloppy seams on carbon or fabric.
Lower spine channel will please those (like my wife) that complain of bruising in the same area in firm/hard shelled seats (go-karts in my wife’s case)
On the wheels the it’s called out “ MADE IN JAPAN by Taneisya”. This is who makes the ICB wheels as well so yes I’d guess there was some form of partnership.

Re: New Spoon Goodies Coming Soon?
I don't get the love for 16 because of the limited wide and low profile tire selection. Some of the wider 16s seem way too tall to run. That or the very narrow 15x6.5 wheel.
I'd run 16s as a daily driver tire, but prefer the price to performance ratio of 15s.

They do look like they are very, very narrow. Doubt they would hold my 280lb butt. Maybe 1 butt cheek but not both.
