I'll know more on Tuesday, when the franchise swaps the current ECU/PCM with a virgin unit from corporate to take a baseline.

Based on the interactions so far, I'm not getting my hopes up.

Honda stated they would not cover any future warranty issues related to the current ECU/PCM. The GM suggested they replace ECU with a new part at my expense ($770) to ensure that car was 100% covered with the original terms of the new car warranty. Considering the situation, I'm not comfortable driving the car or selling it with a faulty ECU, so I told him to move forward with replacing it and to let me know when the car was ready.

I'd like to find a specialist to take the original ECU and pull the data. Hopefully, it will have dates and times so we can figure out what's going on.

Honda Customer care called today and left a voicemail that she would follow-up in a week and left her number to call back. I immediately called back and left a message. She has never returned any of my calls so it looks like I'll be waiting until Monday to see what happens, if I catch the call in time... lol

I sincerely hope Honda rectifies this situation. For your sake, and possibly, others who find themselves in this situation.

On the way home, the new ECU started pulling power and the car began violently bucking when merging into highway traffic. This was identical to the original symptoms.

No CEL and it happened twice. After that, the car was fine. The store is closed and I'm not comfortable driving the car, so I called the Service Manager and left a voicemail.

Honda Roadside Assistance may be towing it back to the dealership tomorrow.

On one hand, heartbreaking, the other, it proves the issue wasn't the ECU. Given Honda's previous position, I would stand firm and push that the car is 100% unmodified. My concern is Honda could choose to relate to the falsely accused "modified ECU."

So you had to pay for the replacement ecu?

Don't we know some higher ups in Honda that can do the right thing here?

Honda Roadside Assistance sent over a AAA contracted flatbed and we went to the same store.

I asked for a Tech to take a ride with me and the CTR the CEL came on.

We went back and it's being diagnosed right now. In his opinion, if it's the same codes, a Honda Engineer needs to come in person to look at it.

The Service Advisor just called and said the new PCM/ECU had a programming error due to some data that didn't copy over from the old unit. They said to bring it back for reprogramming. I'll be heading over there in 30 minutes.

I just finished speaking with the Service Manager at the local dealer. The new data was sent to Honda Corp (Tech Line) and they (again) said the ECU was modified (something about a VIN mismatch that can only happen if it was connected to another car) and they would not cover any ECU related warranty work. This is the NEW ECU/PCM.

The Service Manager said they basically can't work on the car anymore without charging me. I'm beyond frustrated...
