(SOLD): 1998 #1172 - one owner (CA - San Jose area)
(Sold): 1998 Acura Integra Type R (98-1172), by original owner - $9,999
Location: Campbell, CA
VIN: JH4DC2310WS004683
Odometer (as of 5/11/2019): 246,584
Title: clean
Registration: active, through Aug 2019
CA Smog: passed on 4/19/2019
I purchased this car new in Sunnyvale, CA in Aug 1998, and it has resided in or around San Jose ever since. It was daily-driven for eighteen years, and has been mostly unused (neglected) for the past three. The car has no significant mods that can not be easily undone. It starts up every time, and just passed the CA smog inspection, in preparation for this sale. Most of the paint revives well with wax (I never wax it). The interior is in excellent condition. The car has never been in a significant accident. The car has no apparent rust (because I choose to live where things don't rust). It's currently riding on a set of 195/55R-15 Dunlop Direzza ZII Star Spec, and they have less than 1,500 miles on them. I have all records since the original purchase. (If there's a receipt for an OEM bra in there, that wasn't my idea.)
OEM Options & accessories:
- air conditioning
- striped floor mats and trunk mat
- mud guards
- JDM rear shock tower bar
Modifications:
- the emblems have been shaved and the stickers removed - the sale will include new OEM replacements
- Comptech Ice Box
- Bilstein dampers
- Stoptech braided steel brake lines
- Russell Speed Bleeders
- Alpine CDA-9847 w/Aux input harness - the sale will also include the original OEM head unit (yes, I have the code)
- Automate keyless entry/alarm
Significant repairs and items of note:
The original rear emblem was stolen shortly after the car was purchased. (Grr... I even heard the $%#@er idling outside, but couldn't get out there quick enough.) I opted to shave the emblem when I had the hatch repaired.
A piece of tire tread was flipped up in front of the car at highway speeds, and it tore through the lower lip and the bottom of the front bumper cover. The lip and bumper covers were replaced with new OEM parts, and I opted to shave the front emblem to match the rear (meh, seemed like a good idea at the time). The quality of the paint on the replaced bumper cover is not very good, and it looks pretty rough after twenty years. On top of that, the passenger front corner has also been bumped three separate times while the car was parked. (Think about that for sec... How do you get bumped in the passenger front corner while parked? It's happened to this car three different times!) All that said, the damage to the front bumper cover is strictly cosmetic, and could be easily fixed.
The rear bumper cover has also been bumped twice. (That, at least, makes sense.)
The original short block was replaced under warranty (take that, extended warranty naysayers!) when the local dealer finally conceded that a quart of oil in 350 miles was excessive consumption. This was at approximately 70K miles. Unfortunately, that means the VIN on the block doesn't match the rest of the car.
The head was rebuilt to stock specs at approximately 200K miles.
The set of wheels currently on the car is my spare set. As you can see in the pics, they're petty badly stained with brake dust. (Thanks reformulated Cobalt Friction GT-Sports!) I intended to strip them and have them painted Kaiser Silver, but I never got around to it. However, I did buy a set of OEM silver center caps, and they'll be included in the sale. My original set of Championship White wheels are in excellent condition, and they will also be included in the sale.
This car has been sitting more or less unused for the last three years. There are probably things that I am not aware of that will need to be fixed. The car has been priced accordingly.
This sale will include all of my spares, accessories, uninstalled parts, etc (if the buyer desires):
- 2x new OEM red "A" emblems
- new OEM left side, right side and rear "Integra Type R" stickers
- new set of 2001 OEM black floor mats
- new OEM catalytic converter
- 4x unused OEM Kaiser Silver center caps
- unused AutoMeter dual gauge instrument cluster bezel
- original set of OEM Championship White wheels in excellent condition (again, my spare set is currently on the car)
- 4x 15x7 +38 silver Kosei K1 rims w/hub-centric rings
- ITR-specific car cover (Wolf, IIRC, but Acura-branded)
- OEM service manual
- OEM Championship White front license plate block-offs
- 6x HAMP oil filters
- OEM touch-up paint
- unassembled Fujimi 96SpecR model
- etc
I will not respond to requests to part out any of the above.
I am not interested in any trades.
Serious buyers/inquiries can contact me at (Edit: vehicle is sold, thanks). I will check this thread and PM's here as well.
This car is offered for sale as is with no implied warranty.

Great deal. Some of those parts would put the car price itself at about $7,500. Great choice including those items to push the sale (which looks to be what has happened already)
LOL at the Cobalt comment. When they switch from blue to silver the dust levels were insane so I feel you on that for sure.
