Tire Information Thread
Re: Tire Information Thread
Maybe instead of buying the ECS for my second set of wheels, I'll get the advans instead
The wet performance is surprising to me from the feedback I read after all the doubts others were having about it

Re: Tire Information Thread
Yup. They sound like a great tire... just expensive.
I’m betting that the wet performance is primarily compound driven. As they wear down, hydroplaning will still be an issue... and I’d expect their hydroplaning resistance to drop faster than a PS4S/Conti given the initial tread depth and wear rate.

Re: Tire Information Thread
Should I update the OP with new tire options for dry and wet?

I’ve also got a buddy who’s going to give the 100TW Nankang a try... I’ll let you know what I hear back on them.

Re: Tire Information Thread
I guess the nankang is like an r888 competitor? They even have 13in options available, interesting, that would would work pretty well for those 80s VW's and Hondas.
I like how they have only have 14 option, ghettoracer with his supposed taiwanese connections would be sad that nankang didn't make a 14 for him

Also missing :
Dunlop ZIII
Yoko A052
Nexan SUR4G
The Conti and PS4S... are those Extreme Summer or 3 season tires? I’d include them but don’t know they’re in the same category as the others.
Oh, and Phil’s Tire is still getting shipments of the original Rival if anyone wants them for track days or LeChump. Not as fast as the Rival-S but way longer lasting.

Re: Tire Information Thread
Thank you sir. I will confirm all posting are appropriate tire category. I can update the list this week.
I see the Rivals are $5 more per tire over the Rival-S. I'm passively hunting for a street tire for a set of rims I have collecting dust.

Re: Tire Information Thread
Officially a new Falken coming next year (visually almost identical to the 71R and Z3). Goodyear has something new coming also but not sure on sizes.
The A052 from Yokohama is a decidedly fast tire in 200TW trim and swept a bunch of classes in ST* at Solo Nats. Downside is wear... cars without camber punish them. A buddy’s Focus RS barely got 30 runs out of a set before they corded at the outside edge and eventually (because he kept running them) came apart a couple of runs later.
I also heard that Bridgestone may be working on a 71R replacement for next season... I haven’t seen anything concrete but it seems believable.

Re: Tire Information Thread
Excellent news briefing Christian, thank you for sharing. I am in the market but I am not in a rush. Holding off seems best for those who can wait until ~spring, but with the risk of backorder if there is a rush.
