Type R Expo 19 - Official Discussion and Status
UPDATE 7/28/19
Earlier this week, an email went out discussing two items:
- Survey headed to everyone soon regarding Type R Expo and related events. Your input will help immensely -- thank you!
- NSXPO 2019 has invited all Honda / Acura models in our group to join them for their HPDE portion of NSXPO 2019. If you need details on how to register, let us know. Please note, this is not Type R Expo. However, we're happy to help our friends at NSXCA and have collaborated with them successfully many times. Please support them at Summit Point this Oct.
----
2019 is halfway over, and we have not announced anything for this year. Usually, we have that info out to you all at the end of the year before.
We've hosted 19 Expos as well as a few non-Expo events in 19 years -- huge accomplishment to all supporters, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees. Thank you to all of you!
This year, we took a needed a break to focus on our own lives, recover, etc.. We ran 4 Expos, including 2 alongside NSXPO, in less than 2 years.
We're also evaluating what this long running and community driven event needs to add, subtract, change, etc. During this time, we've also noticed the demand for it is stronger than realized, and that's a good thing. We hope that people appreciate and enjoy the event while also not taking it for granted. It's all volunteer, and today's track event world has become much more crowded (and arguably less quality in some cases).
With that said, we're looking at a few late year options while mostly shifting our focus to 2020. Please keep in mind, there are not many options this late in the year. Any interest in the following?
- Social Event at Marysville, OH (includes Honda Heritage Center)
- Social Event in SoCal (possible AHM and / or HPD participation)
- GingerMan Raceway on Labor Day (1 or 2 day event), similar to our ITRCA Track Day in 2014
- Road Atlanta on Oct 25 (Friday) with a social dinner and possible social event following on Sat
Thanks for reading and understanding!

Jay, all of those sounds great to me, minus the SoCal option. I recently went to VIR to meet up with a few of the regulars on here. It was a lot of fun, but had me wishing I had my car there. At least I got to see some of my fellow R owners, and to me, that's what EXPO is all about. Hanging out with friends you haven't seen in a while, talking cars, watching people consume too much beer and showing up late the next day, sharing a lunch or dinner together, it's all about the camaraderie for me.

I echo hootrscootr's thoughts on the matter. It kinda doesn't matter where as long as we're all there.
My vote is for RA...we haven't been there. And then we plan a badass social for Expo 20!

I will prioritize attending, regardless of option. I appreciate and echo the community focused comments.

Is there a chance of getting a tour of NSX production area, perhaps some design and engineering areas at Marysville? That might be really cool.

I can do Road Atlanta and possibly Ohio, depending on the date.
