New Addition “Poor R”
New Addition “Poor R”
With prices skyrocketing on our beloved ITR’s I’m no longer in the financial position to afford a clean minty vin matching car. What’s the next best thing you say? How about a beat up and neglected R with a k swap (k24a2 with Rsx Type s transmission). For a measely 4K I was able to get this piece of “Honda history”. No longer vin matching or carrying its old but stout b18c5 I’m pondering what to do with this heap.
Initial plans are to get it running first. Story goes the car was stolen a few years back, the hondata kpro was taken and the car sat under the weather for the next year and a half. I’ll be going thru the essentials after I.e suspension and brakes get those sorted. I’ll address the body after those 2 things are out of the way. If anyone has any leads on CW parts (front end, rear bumper, rear bumper filler, etc) that would be a huge plus if said person was willing to sell or barter for parts.
The first few pictures are the ones seller provided to me. The second set is after its first wash the n the last 3 are from before the kid bought it. Looks like I’ll have my hands full for awhile. This one will be enjoyed and driven

Seems like you got a good deal.

For sure not as good as my last pickup but decent nonetheless.Stin1 wrote:Seems like you got a good deal.

Would you mind sending the VIN to myself? I can add it to the internal database that you now have it.
Good luck!

Made some progress on Project Beat-R today. Vacuumed and somewhat cleaned the interior, reinstalled RBC manifold, installed new battery, wired all the miscellaneous hanging wires, installed radiator/hoses and power washed the bay. I was able to get power and she cranks over but I’m still missing the ecu so if anyone has an 02-04 Rsx Type s ecu I could borrow lmk.

The bay really cleaned up!
Unfortunately, you cannot simply use a straight up PRB ecu. You would need to install Hondata in it to bypass the immobilizer. You can however use a JDM DC5R ecu and ground the fuel pump to bypass it if you’re wanting something cheap just to get by.

Thanks I realized this after some research . I was able to get my hands on a hondata for a day or so and tried cranking it over. Fuel pump primed but drops to nothing when I go to start it. Most likely a clogged filter. I’m working on it alone so I have to get creative and make use of what I have. A little closer to starting though.
