Plenty run Mobile1. I've never been a fan since it isn't a true synthetic. Several here are Amsoil dealers (ex: VPR Motorsports = Type R Expo sponsor) and Motul is another option I've personally switched to in both my ITR (transmission and oil) and RS (all drivetrain fluids.) We Don't Lift sells Motul is has signed up to sponsor Type R Expo as well.
If one isn't tracking, I recommend Castrol dino oil. The key factor for me in choosing an oil is availability, as in, can I grab a liter to top off if needed on a road trip or track day. I now buy multiple 5L containers of Motul to solve for this.
Mobil 1 isn't a true synthetic? What do you mean by that?
Thanks for the oil suggestions, I will definitely consider getting some from a sponsor.
Just dropped off the gs-r. They are going to start diagnosing. I'll keep this thread updated for anyone interested.

Tony at Mid Valley Auto looked at the gs-r yesterday. He found some burnt oil in cylinder 2. He recommends to do a full rebuild, considering that oil consumption is 1 quart every 400 miles or so, and the history of the engine including overheating once during my ownership.
I've decided to rebuild it myself. I've wanted to learn how to build engines for a while now, so this is a good opportunity. First step will be to remove engine. I have an engine stand, just need to get a crane.
I might make a separate thread documenting the engine rebuilding process. Plan is to clean up the engine and car as much as possible. I might have the undercarriage and engine bay clean with dry ice when engine is out. And going to do a street n/a build with forged internals etc.
More details will be in the other thread I'll make.

I'll dig up the original lawsuit from a decade ago and start a new thread.

Thanks for the offer. I'm looking to purchase one, to keep it on hand. But we'll see what I decide.
