Timing Belt Replacement

Need to do the timing belt also on my ITR.... Might be the first Timing Belt replacement...

Pre-Honda discontinuing parts and JDM suppliers running short on B-series engines, I called a TB swap cheap insurance. Honda has since raises parts costs across the board, but it's still cheaper than a TB failure which could ruin the head or block, not to mention labor.

I replace my TB every 3yrs regardless of mileage.

Mine hasn't been done in a while... Buddy had it for a few years before I took over in 2017.. Don't really trust myself with such an important task.

How mechanically inclined are you? There are a few tips and tricks to avoid common challenges. Community members like Chase do this job regularly or others like myself, have completed the work ~10x over the last 10+ years. I recognize we as a community lost all our content, but we as a community could contribute tips/photos/etc. to create a how-to article to reduce fears of the great unknown.

im not mechanically savvy.. I'll do the oil change on the drive way but nothing as big as timing belt change. In the past, i've swap out header, b-pipe, radiators, probably done one or two brake jobs.

How I found a local Honda Mechanic to do my Integras' TB ...

I went to Facebook and searched for a "group" of Honda clubs. I joined a few clubs and mentioned that I needed to have my TB done and asked if anyone recommended a "shop" that they had actually used themselves?

I got a few shops, but I also got the name of Honda ASE Tech and an Acura ASE Tech that work side jobs on the weekends. I contacted them and one was already scheduled and the other said $300 (plus $40 if I wanted the valves adjusted) and he would bring the parts from his parts store and give me his 20% employee discount.

I took his parts list and bought them from www dot acurapartsforless dot com at a 32% discount.

He did both my Integras in my garage, in about 5 hours.

Using Facebook, I found a different Acura ASE Tech, in 2015 that did my MDX in his garage , for $300
