I'd consider paying the premium for a clean 94-95 again. Those B18C1 engines were better than the 96-01 years (oil cooler, OBD-1, etc.).
Agreed. I also have a renewed love for the
94-97 front ends.

Care to elaborate on the differences between 94-95 gsr's and 96-01? That's really interesting. I didn't know abut the oil coolers.

It just needs the OEM 97 ITR lip or the SiR-G lip. :D

At $19,400 with 2 hours to go.

Idk but that seems crazy. I have a nice gsr so I'm talking from experience. Maybe this shows the market is moving, or maybe it's a one-time fluke like sometimes happens on BaT.

I own a GS-R as well, and personally I'd rather buy a higher mileage ITR for the $20k+ this will likely end at. With that said, the eventual buyer will likely own one of, if not the, nicest all original, low mileage GS-R in existence. Taffeta White is also really desirable and somewhat rare to come across.

Like you said though, this is likely a one-time thing simply because it's so mint. I don't see it driving up the prices on "driver's" examples and beaters.

“Sold on CL Phoenix for 6500 in 2017. Good sale!”

If it’s true that’s a tidy profit.

This car put up a big number, as always its worth what someone is willing to pay. Maybe the buyer will store this car or add it to a collection, but your are in Type R territory at that price!

Always enjoyed my 92 GSR aztec green pearl, another rare car these days...

The closing price on this was awesome. I had a good time watching the auction.
