A lot of times rotor "warp" is a misconception. The rotor can be perfectly flat but there are hot spots or pad deposits on the rotor that make the friction uneven around the rotor. A lot of times that can be fixed with a simple rotor grind.

The Centric stuff is the same as the Stop Tech stuff (or vice versa) so I think you will be fine with those. Not much point in going with "premium" over a standard rotor on these cars though. Unless your name is Edwin and you can make stock rotors glow, you will be plenty fine lol.

Also keep in mind that if you arent using a sticky tire like an R Comp and an aggressive pad, chances are you will never be able to head up your rotors high enough to harm them.

I would read StopTech's bed-in procedure. Bed-in prevents pad deposits / hot spots on the rotor, attributing to "warped" rotor feel. A proper cool down lap coming off track also helps dissipate heat. The constant heat cycles lead to hairline followed by larger cracks. Ultimately, the rotors will always wear when tracking. The goal is to maximize lifespan.

That is a good read . I always try to break them in properly. They usually end up with vibrations about 20-30k . I am also aware that it's usually deposits rather than a warped rotor. It gets 117 degrees here all summer which may be a contributing factor for me. This even happens on my stock auto that I drive like a granny. Our accord sport has never done it but the rotors did display significant scoring even new from Honda. Second set still scored the rotors quite well even using oem pads.

My rotors don't last anywhere near 20-30k. :P

I'v only put 26k on the car in ~10yrs, but that is easily 10x sets of rotors across ~50x track days.

And this is why we call it a wear item lol

Bingo! Prior to the BBK, I did well if a set of rotors lasted a season.

FWIW I basically only weekend/monthly drive my R, it hasn't been on a track yet. So that's why I got oem Honda rotors. And of course they feel amazing. :trophy:

My brother gets some rotors with the name mountain for some models. They are made in Japan. From my understanding they are repackaged oem rotors for Honda , Nissan, and Toyota. I will try to remember to ask if they are available for the R.

I would never expect a set to last used on the track . I wouldn't mind going through a set of pads with out turning the rotors on my stock automatic that I drive like a granny . I actually have to change the rotors today on that car . Lol.

Worldpac has oem Acura rotors for our car . They also have the mountain brand. They were about $22 difference. My brother manages a shop I only saw my cost not retail. I am not sure if they sell retail or not.
