DC231 wrote: Sat Aug 11, 2018 7:13 am I believe the last one was a dud only based off the fact that everyone knows what the owner paid for it 8 months ago and no one is willing to let him make a profit off of them.. he even said aggressive reserve considering condition but who the hell in there right mind is gonna let the guy make 10k+ in profit off them knowing he paid 28k for the caR 8 months ago lmao.. No one IMO..

Well that's what this guy is doing here with the '98. He bought it off autotrader within the past several months for like 35k or something. Then he puts it on BaT with an "appraisal" for 45k, just to make sure everyone knows to give him his 10k profit. Lol. Only thing I don't like is he said how he looked for this caR for so long to get the best example, but then he's selling it so soon anyway. Not all of us with ITRs just want to sell quickly for a profit. Some of us actually do love them and want to drive them and have them in our garage for a long time.
i agree its just not in everyones face like the PY was.. i love these caRs very much and have 2 in my garage

Nearly every time I take mine out somebody offers to buy it. I just say it’s not for sale. It’s weird because I’ve had so many nice cars over the years but something about this car just does it for me and it’s not even that fast or pretty lol. I never plan on selling so really the value is irrelevant to me. It’s just a shame that these cars are becoming unobtanium for real enthusiasts.

Classic. That is funny the guy admitted he was going to sell it on bat. There are people searching for cars just to list on there to get a big pay day.

For years there have been aggressive flippers who track down air cooled Porsche 911 owners and try to buy them for a steal. I have heard of this going on in California quite a bit where they show up at your door step.

In the last few months I have had lots of people come up to me and talk about the rising values of ITRs.

I think the past several listings have all been BAT, so obviously more people will be flipping these cars and don't really care about the performance. I don't even watch the auctions though as I'm too busy just driving the nuts off of mine. If I ever sell mine it'll be private as I want to see it in the community still. Taking it on a road trip here in a week or so to GridLife South, then to Tail of the Dragon, and several Missouri back roads. Great thing about having a cheap ITR is not having to worry about the value at all. Getting my moneys worth out of this car. ;) :coffee:

Sounds like you are lucky. You can't park a ITR out here and expect to return to the car. I try to drive mine on the weekends. The way people drive on the morning commute out here is also a deterrent.

reserve not met @ $35000.. I believe its because the front end and accident reported.. as a friend said to me today anyone spending 40k+ on this kind of car is a collector and wants original parts.. also if the front end accident was "minor" as the owner stated then I believe the body lines of pictures 9-10-11 would be much straighter.

The picture above also seems to show body line gap on the hood near the fender.
