Here is the plan:
- Saturday June 29 - Track VIR and hang out Saturday night in Raleigh.
- Sunday June 30 - Track VIR and head towards Watkins Glen. Stop somewhere along the way that looks cool or when we get tired of driving (The Glen is ~9hrs from VIR)
- Monday July 1 - Arrive at Watkins Glen and check into motel (
http://senecalodge.com/). Check out the town, local breweries, tell stories with friends and enjoy some food.
- Tuesday July 2 - Check out more of Watkins, day trip somewhere, what ever we really feel like doing. Drop off the cars at the track and prep for those that need.
- Wednesday July 3 - Track The Glen, enjoy the evening.
- Thursday July 4 - Track The Glen and find some stuff to light on fire.
- Friday July 5 - Hang out locally, check things out, find more stuff to light on fire.
- Saturday July 6 - Check out of Seneca Lodge and head home.
As for lodging, here is what is recommended. They state they had plenty of rooms when I called on Monday. This could change given the holiday weekend so I plan on booking next week unless I hear otherwise:
- Location: Seneca Lodge
- URL:
http://senecalodge.com/
- Price:
- motel with two twin beds = $90 a night
- motel with two queens or one king = $100 a night
- cabin with two twin beds = $85 a night
- prices are $10 cheaper on weekdays
This isn't set in stone and just what I came up with over the past week. If anybody has better ideas or whats to chime in, I am always open to suggestions. Also, we found sitters for the kids so the wife will be joining in on the adventure. So there will be at least one lady there minus the lot lizards that Luke and Ryan pick up along the way.
