Hell of a tire as long as it is above 80 and completely dry out. What shipped on the normal CTR? the new peasant version, if you will.

Damnit I don’t want to be a peasant. But they come with Continental SportContact 6.

Granted, most dealers mark up the MSRP, but there is a dealer in South St Louis that doesn't.
Put up a deposit and wait until they get a CTR, then you pay MSRP.
I don't know what would happen to the deposit, if you backed out, when they called you to say that your CTR has arrived.
I don't expect that South County will ever see the PY Limited CTR, because not every dealer can get one, if only 600 are made.

Type R Expo 17 West was likely the only time my current set have seen 80* temps. Maybe that's why they have lasted ~21k miles... I priced out a set and sticker shock immediately followed.

So a different color, slightly better suspension, different wheels and different tires with a tiny bit of weight savings.

IMO it's Honda throwing a bone to dealers so they can mark them up, more than making it a more track oriented version. Just seems like minimal effort.

I agree. I thought the same thing, supposedly an all out track version yet it still has 20” rims and all the Honda sensing crap.

That's no Race Base, that's for sure. Not exactly 'all talk and no trousers' but it does have a whiff of marketing to it.

I've been seeing the "Less talk, more drive" commercial with the 1998 Type R a lot recently. Acura hasn't sold an Integra Type-R in almost 20 years!

In hindsight I feel I was overly critical of the CTR when it re-launched for similar (20") arguments in the end I'm just glad it looks like Honda is trying to reconnect with its sports heritage in a relatively accessible way.

It's not like they haven't upped their strict racing support in a number ways (crate k20c1, multiple spec built CTR race platforms, even RedBull seems optimistic) more recently.

The Type R was always an attempt to push a street car towards a ready to go track day ride for the inclined but moderately resourced.

Our early models were delivered with amazing commitment to this but also had plenty of areas that could be pointed at (like elimination of vanity mirrors, 2" exhaust collector, relatively soft sprung and bushed.) as purely marketing tactics or performance weaknesses.

Regardless of how much further they could have gone with a limited CTR, seeing Honda take a platform that's been very well (sold and) regarded (at least in the performance aspect) and push that even a bit further is cool to me. Ok it's not quite the shooting for the moon commitment of their '80s era, but it's still nice to see these tokens of the old spirit.


Acura it would seem is a whole other story, struggling to find a luxury path carrying economy baggage.
