Has the 615k+ improved?
Not since maybe a year ago? It was the 615 first (and wasn’t particularly good). Then it was the 615k (and it was better). Finally it was the 615k+. I think I posted about the tire previously... I put them on my 996TT almost a year ago and ran them at AMP with good results. Also ran them with Jabaay/Kutil/Taylor on my old EF Sedan at GridLife South and loved bombing around in them. They’re not the absolute fastest tire out there but they’re progressive and fun at the limit. Seems to have good wear too.
I wonder how 205/50/15's 615k+'s handle a 15x8'' rim?

I ran the original 215's and the 615's when they were the go-to HPDE tire. I tracked on the 615k's once, but I used them mostly as a street tire.
I bet they’re just fine. The 185’s we ran on Dan were mounted on a 14x7. A 205 on a 15x8 would be almost the same sorta ratio of wheel to tire. :)

Has anyone state side here on the site try out the Nankang AR-1 yet? Super interested to try it, but not in the right moment too. So I am hoping to find someone who has tried it. (Yes I have seen Speed Academy's review)

Seems like a bunch of Honda guys run them for track use down in SoCal. Check out instagram page rcompoundusa. They sell tons of them.

I saw a pic of one that delaminated on track... IIRC, it was on some flavor of Mustang but I’ve got zero details on the incident so take it with a grain of salt.

Edit:
Here’s the pic.

Wow, that is scary! The Mustang is a heavier car with significantly more horsepower, possibly leading to more heat/stress on the tire.

Thanks for the replies. I have seen the tires being sold/mounted/used on insta, but have not been able to find more in depth comparisons, or as much detail than what has already been provided by the Speed Academy video.

Edit: I did see that tire tread failure posted, but did not know it was a mustang. Regardless it was a turn off for me, but I do know each individual tire is never identical as the next in production line.

Yeah, it’s an odd failure (inside edge on the front)... an outside edge failure would’ve made more sense to me. Almost makes me wonder if it was severely flat-spotted and eventually came apart. Dunno.

Having said that, Kumho struggled with similar issues with their V700 back in the early 90’s and again with their newer 200TW stuff. Not every company has the issue but it’s not exactly a new thing either. :(

That looks like production issues with the thread separating form the belt. I've heard about Nankang's but they are to many great options to consider them.

Early feedback on the new Yoko’s is that they’re pretty quick... wear may not be great though it’s too early to tell. Saw a pic of their 245 vs other manufacturers and it looks WIDE. Really damn wide. :)

Additional feedback puts them in the same range of performance as the 71R/Rival-S... appears they’re managing this while also being better with heat (for DE stuff). Downside is cost and outside edge wear.

Supposed to be a revised Goodyear Supercar3 coming out any day now... should be a great option for the CTR since it’s a “big sizes” sorta tire.
