Apologies in advance for taking over your thread but have some good info to share.
After speaking to Centric they only reman calipers and dont sell directly to the public. The sales guy had very specific info to share and more so exactly what WE want to know. When ordering any caliper starting with part #141 you will receive the reman caliper in its original bare steel finish, no pads. He also said these will rust over time! If the part starts with #142 you will receive the reman caliper with pads and a Gold Zinc finish
Sadly the reason we are not seeing Right front or Rears available is because they are out of stock.
That's some good info.

Dan, apologies for thread-jacking!
Anyone know how long will the Gold Zinc finish on the #142- calipers last, taking into account the salt during the winters here in NJ?

Rene I have the zinc remans on my ITR. They are holding up ok but starting to flake. For your car, I wouldnt expect them to last very long once the salt gets ahold of them.

I guess the best thing would be to get the calipers zinc coated at a place like DC2productions did with his bolts?

So she's at the body shop and I don't think she has even been touched yet in the few weeks shes been there. I spoke with the owner and he has 100+ things going on right now. He said I'm moving at 100mph to get shit in and out. Now isn't a good time to work on your caR because I need to take my time and right now I dont have time.
I 100% respect that reply and would rather that than having there be ANY potential problem or rushed work. He and his crew do amazing work and I'm confident that when she returns it will be worth any wait.
In the mean time we finally got a chance to start working on the heart for this project. Last night we spent tearing down both C5 blocks and making a list of parts and a plan for the machine shop. I have (2) C5 blocks, and one is a RDOT. The RDOT will be getting a top to bottom overhaul with all new internals throughout. Head (stamped '97
)will also get a full overhaul. 0 miles through and through.
Here's a few pics of our progress from last night.
Something I noticed that I have never seen before was stamping on the surface where the oil pan mounts to the bottom of the block. The RDOT block has a VERY clear "BBBBB" stamped into the bottom. The other C5 block has "DDCDD" stamped on it in the same spot, just not as clear.
Has anyone ever seen this? And what do the codes mean!?... See below
RDOT - "BBBBB"
"DDCDD"

those codes are there for you to choose the right size bearings for mains. there are codes on the crankshaft as well. each letter represents a main journal bore size.

Besides the fact that I pretty have no idea what that means lol, why wouldn't they be the same codes?
